Ah, Cedar Hills Park, a sprawling oasis in the heart of suburbandom, where the essence of youth explodes like a thousand colorful confettis in the air.
You know, every trip to Cedar Hills is akin to walking into a grand circus - the magic, the adventure! It's like riding on the tail of a shooting comet, all while forgetful of the humdrum stroller rides in your average park.
My little one, a sprightly 3-year-old with energy rivaling a dozen jackrabbits, revels amidst the play structures rising like epic fairy-tale castles from the grassy expanse. It is his personal Neverland, a quaint realm where reality is kneaded and stretched into the dough of vivid imaginations.
And look yonder, a stone's throw away, a playground attached to the elementary school that's a veritable feast for tiny titans seeking refuge from mundanity. A brisk walk up to it is similar to scaling the North face of the Eiger in a magic land - exhilarating in its simplicity.
The volleyball, tennis and soccer courts laid down are akin to vestigial relics of Olympus for the athletically divine - temptation for which, thankfully, my dad bod and I have been able to resist.
Ah yes, Cedar Hills Park, the patch of eden in our mechanized suburbs, where adults discover their lost youth and children extend the frontiers of their euphoria. A serene painting fleshed out in 3D, cradling the joy of its miniature inhabitants. What a lovely, lively...
Read moreAnother fabulous park. Connected to an elementary school this park has it all. Pickleball courts, plenty of bathrooms, the best part is its very disability friendly. Area for wheelchairs on picnic benches could also be a good highchair spot for a smaller child. Wide paths and thoughtful bathrooms make it easily accessible to all. Reservable field, and pickle ball court, lots of parking, beautiful landscaping, lots of areas to run and play, and a walking trail around it all. Plenty of garbage recepticles and an overall cared for feel but my very favorite part is the volleyball area complete with nets, sand, and benches all the way around for spectators. I didn't make it to the kids play area but at a glance looked quite modern and fun. The family bathrooms we're large enough for wheelchair and caregiver and had a large fold down child changing table equiped. All bathrooms have soap in the dispensers something I had long taken for granted it's sad but not all bathrooms provide soap so enjoy this luxery. Btw did you see all those gorgeous dahlias in the garden?! It's a shame we cant see more of this magnifecent garden. I posted rules, signs and how to reserve/ or be involved in the garden, field, and PB court in photos. Dont forget some bread crumbs or stale crackers for the crows they were quite freindly with me and the...
Read moreTop notch park.
Please open the public restrooms back up.
Edit: I initially gave this park 2 stars because the public restrooms were closed. I've upped it to 3 because it really is a nice playground. When the restrooms are open, this is a 4-5 star facility.
Closing restrooms at a public park where parents bring lil' kids is just mean. Locking them from dusk to dawn is completely understandable. The last thing a frazzled parent needs is a toddler or young child having an accident in the park, or in the car seat, because the public restrooms were locked at 11am or 2:40pm.
Additionally, public facilities typically see greater use by less affluent families, which I am led to believe equates to a higher percentage of minority families. Removing the restroom access makes this a non-viable option for these parents, thereby disproportionately screwing the...
