There is a reason why certain massage companies are successful, and others eventually get run out of business. Hand and Stone is no exception. First off, the packages they offer are so overpriced in comparison to any place we've ever been, it's really ridiculous. Secondly, there are so many hidden fees and charges, you almost have to watch yourself as if someone is purposely trying to pull something behind your back. If you're going to offer 8 different massage types, then there should be a better system for your "membership" monthly fees to make it more rational.
I had been getting massages and facials here for some time. Recently my schedule had gotten busier and my husband wanted to use one or two of my massages. He called and spoke to several different staff prior to going in to ensure he could use the massages; no one ever said anything about a fee. He went in, got a massage, and everything was good. He was never charged anything else.
Only two weeks later, yesterday, he called in to schedule, and the Assistant Manager-Alejandro, informed my husband that he would be charged a $10 fee for using my massage package. After not being told about this the many other times he had called, and even gone in and not gotten charged for it, you could imagine he was not happy. I could understand if someone outside of the family was going to use it, because they don't pay the membership dues. That makes sense. What neither of us can understand, is why the he11 a company would ever charge an extra fee between marital or blood relatives in the same house? My husband and I have been sharing money for fifteen years. Me taking $10 out of my pocket for a tip at a restaurant is no different than him doing it. That being said, you would never go to a restaurant and have to pay an extra $ fee just to share food with your spouse because you weren't that hungry. OR NO ONE WOULD GO EAT THERE.
The company plan for Hand and Stone is going to be their demise. Not to mention managers like Alejandro, who are so worried about their job title, that they'll stick it to people because "they're the manager" that clearly knows what they're doing. Unfortunately, when you have 20 year old managers that act like they live with their parents and are entitled, it doesn't go over very well for real adults with life experience. My suggestion would be to hire a real manager that understands how to be a person, how to talk to people, and when the right time to stick to rules is. We are canceling our membership specifically due to this incident.Good job Alejandro. Way to get the company the extra $10, and not only screw the massage therapist out of a bigger tip, but a family member out of even more money that You will never see, and clearly doesn't affect your life in anyway. And also, way to take an experience that is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable, and make it irritating and stressful for someone....
Read moreEdit: Aliza is SUPER HELPFUL and super cheery every time I contact the Progress Ridge Location!! Can I give a 6th star??
Summary: Great place to go for a massage!
Shoutouts: Aliza - Amazing customer service Sophia - Great communicator so you feel comfortable with the massage you want Lindsay - Extremely experienced (esp. if needing a deep tissue)
I started going in due to a deal they had. Typically a bit more expensive than what I usually go for but I decided to give it a try.
The front desk staff was (and still is) professional and friendly. I ended up getting an appointment with Lindsay whom I've been told had great experience with individuals who lead a more active lifestyle. Not only did I leave feeling refreshed, but she also told me muscle groups I could work on that would help alleviate the issues I'm feeling.
However, I recently had an issue with someone breaking into my vehicle and my gift cards were stolen! I called in and talked to Aliza who helped me come up with multiple solutions. She was extremely patient and definitely the type that you can tell is smiling behind the phone.
Lastly, I had a great experience with Sophia as well. In my previous appointments at other locations, it can be uncomfortable to tell the LMT what you wanted during the massage. Sophia made it clear that she's open to communication so the experience can be tailored optimally.
All in all, it's definitely not the cheapest massage. However, I have yet to experience any issues at this location and I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed that way. Give this...
Read moreI just finished getting a hot stone massage with Jason and I’d like to share that this was one of the best massages I have ever had! I am no stranger to massages. My husband and I have been enjoying luxury massages for years, including at very high end resorts during our travels...Jason is on par with the experiences we’ve had at those high end spas!
He knows his craft very well and employs outstanding technique. He really listens to your concerns and desires, implementing them into the massage. He relieved discomfort in my lower back & hips from 2 recent pregnancies while creating a very tranquil, pampering experience throughout. He doesn’t just go through the motions, he truly does a phenomenal job at making sure you have the most serene experience possible. He also has the most soothing, kind & comforting demeanor which, is as important a quality to have for a massage therapist as good technique!
Jason really is the full package!! He is a master at his chosen trade and embodies a passion for what he does that carries over into every aspect of your time with him. He is a true professional. I will most definitely be going to see him again!
Thank you, Jason, for giving me the most relaxing and lovely...
