After being a loyal customer for over four months and going there weekly, ordering exactly the same sashimi appetizer, today they decided to add a piece of horribly disgusting looking fish with the skin on it and said it’s chef’s special! We kept an open mind and tried a little piece but it tasted worse than it looked! We asked for it to be switched out and they refused and kept saying “the chef said it’s chef’s special” horrible customer service!! I’ve never been at a restaurant where they would force something on you to eat! We’re never going back, and you shouldn’t either! Mind you they are one of the most over priced sushi restaurants!
Update on my previous review after a very unprofessional response from the restaurant owner. First of all visited this restaurant weekly and the server there knows us and she nothing but a sweet lady we never disrespected her nor anyone else at the restaurant because it was not her fault. For a business owner to respond with false accusation just shows you how much this restaurants values their customers and good customer service!! Second I am glad that the restaurant does not waste food but when a customer complains three times asking for the piece of fish that tasted horrible to be replaced with anything else available before returning the whole plate and canceling the rest of our order to take our business else where, I never heard of a restaurant that forces food on their customers just because they don't want to waste food!! Especially that we been ordering the same order weekly and we were not informed that they are changing the order. Normally when restaurants have a new chef's special they let their customers know before they order, we are not up for new surprises as the chef pleases. But clearly this restaurant does not care about their customers or how to make things right when they disrespect...
Read moreI am Japanese, grew up in Japan and lived in the US for a long time. We go to sushi restaurants regularly and even make some at home, too. I totally agree with the other Japanese person's review. I could not understand why there are so many raving reviews on this place.
We ordered some rolls, calamari, and yakisoba. Presentation was nice, but portions were very small for the price. When it comes to the quality, it is more than over-priced. Sushi rice was not properly prepared -- like glue (overcooked and mixed incorrectly) and had no flavor (was sushi vinegar used?). Calamari had sweet (teriyaki?) sauce on already, which ruined the dish. Yakisoba was cooked like lo-mein -- wrong sauce, too greasy, wrong vegetables and wrong noodles. Did I pay $18 for the orchid flower? I would have been better off getting fast- food Chinese lo-mein instead. I wonder how and where the chefs were trained to cook Japanese food. The only bright spot was the friendly serving staff even though food came out in totally uncoordinated order.
Here's my recommendation for Sushi in Beaverton, Tigard, Hillsboro area -- If you want to eat sushi that tastes like sushi but for a lot less money, I recommend going to one of the belt conveyor sushi places in the area. If you want good sushi but in a better atmosphere, go to Syun or Ki-ichi. If you want to have an upscale and authentic sushi dinner, go to Maki. If you want just upscale,...
Read moreWe ordered a shrimp fried rice, mixed tempura, and a couple of rolls (Manhattan, Halloween). It’s sad to say, unlike the name of the establishment, best tasting food was the fried rice and tempura. The sushi rice they used were too wet and had a texture of a rice cake. The size of the rolls were way too big with more wet rice than the fish. The taste was too sweet for the spicy rolls we’ve ordered. After the disappointing meal, I tried to pay with an Amex card. The server informed me that they do not accept Amex card and ask for different form of payment. When I asked why they didn’t accept the card and she responded by saying that Amex charges 2 to 4 percent more for processing the payment. So, do they not charge enough for their menu items? Do they not make enough money to absorb this payment processing fees? Doesn’t restaurants markup their prices to over 60% or more? With these high margins of profits, could they not afford the merchant processing fees from non-cash customers? Maybe they need to have cash/credit pricing on their menu items like some gas stations if they are afraid to absorb these fees as a part of doing business. This was a first time there and I won’t go back to the establishment that are selective of means of earning...
