A huge department store that was literally almost completely empty of clients when I came in... It was my first time in this specific store as well as in this chain in general... I dropped by for the purpose of returning a product purchased on Amazon.com... The handful of visitors in the store were all here for the same purpose, it seemed - in line for an Amazon return... The Amazon returns desk is located in the innermost part of the store - the farthest from the entrance, clearly meant for the visitor to be exposed to the store's merchandise on one's way in and out... If that is not enough, the receipt for the return (issued smoothly by friendly employees) was issued together with a free 'gift', a $5 coupon that was good towards any purchase without any minimum expense... I walked the aisles and explored what was on offer... There were good products available yet the prices were disproportionately high - $5 off the cheapest item would have still been way more expensive than Walmart / Kroger - Fred Meyer (I gave up on the 'gift')... I couldn't help but feel sorry for another killed by Amazon / Walmart business, while wondering how they even manage to stay in business at all, still... The steep prices, however, made sure that any feeling of sympathy left as soon as it arose - there is nothing offered uniquely here that cannot be found in Walmart / Amazon for so much cheaper and with so much broader selection making them a way more cost-effective one stop destination, whether...
Read moreKohl's is one of the LAST of the stand alone department stores of the past. Personally, I hope that they do stick it out and last. They have clothes, jewelry, shoes, toys, bedding, and even small appliances. The brands and quality is better than other stores, and they have a rewards club that keeps you coming back to spend more and more. This location is definitely strange. While it is right off the freeway, it's so stand alone. Meaning it's not near anything else, that is like it. I guess target is nearby, but no other clothing stores or anything to give it competition. So while it's accessible, you have to be intentionally going there, or it's always going to be out of the way.
The service is what you expect. Nothing exceptional, but it's not like people are rude. I did notice that there are a lot of older women and a lot of teen girls. Not many make employees and not many middle aged people. Not sure if that's saying anything, but it was of note. Considering I went in black Friday in the early afternoon, I was very surprised that they weren't slammed. The parking lot was full, but it was not crazy. I...
Read moreThe store was in ok shape, a bit understaffed and unorganized. Lots of arrows on the ground for direction that most people just disregarded. I watched the customer in front of me check out with all clearance items clearly marked, get overcharged by a huge amount. When the customer noticed right away and said they wanted the price as marked. The cashier looked at me, and I said fix it, that is more important I will wait. The cashier then told the customer to go to customer service, where there was a line to get it fixed. I have seen the cashier fix this on the spot before, in fact the last time I was in the store the same exact thing happened to me. I was overcharged and did not get the sales price and I returned everything right that at the cashier. My clearance item rang up correct this time. I asked the cashier does this happen very often and she said yes. So if anything buyer beware, watch your prices especially if they are on sale or clearance, to make sure you are getting the...
