Goodwill Store - Bedford — Attraction in Bedford

DO NOT DONATE here. The staff at the donation center was rude and arrogant and basically turned us away.

We arrived yesterday afternoon with a truckload of furniture and things from my mother's apartment after she had passed away. If you've ever lost a parent you know that sorting through their home and things is impossibly hard and I was blessed to have 3 close friends help my husband and myself.

The furniture and most of the belongings we had in the U-Haul to donate were in PERFECT condition and most of the furniture was less than 2 years old and for the most part unused as the only thing my mom could sit in was her recliner which we did have plans to donate.

The woman at the donation door immediately looked down her nose at us and told my husband "We don't take just anything. It has to be in good condition, no pet hair or smoke or anything" and this was before we ever even opened the truck to show her what we had. She was shaking her head at us and everything about her body language said "go away".

One of my best friends who was helping us tried to politely intervene and assure her it was in excellent condition and that he knew their standards as he's previously worked at a donation center and she was rude to him also saying "well what all do you have and where have these things been?" all with a very sarcastic tone. We seriously had 5 adults standing there in shock that they didn't want to even see what we were offering.

I just stood there with tears streaming down my face as losing a parent is hard enough, but when you are trying to donate their things to help someone in need and you are treated like this it is just horrible. She totally refused to even look at the things we had in the truck. My husband was as stunned and hurt as I was and so we left without even unloading a thing.

My husband called around, and found out that an organization called "Arms of Hope" in Hurst has a thrift shop, and they were more than delighted to take all of the furnishings we had and the minute we arrived there they sent out to kind and polite young men to help unload. The do not take beds so we called and ended up taking the bed (which was less than a year old) to Mission Arlington and they were also very gracious and happy to receive it. Sadly at both other places when we told them how we'd been treated at Goodwill they said that it was not the first time they'd heard such a story.

I've donated thousands of dollars of quality home furnishings, clothing, appliances and more in my lifetime to Goodwill, but my experience yesterday was just unacceptable. NEVER AGAIN will they get a single thing from me and I will let everyone I can know about it and will instead refer folks to organizations that do not treat...

Two stars due to management. Pricing is weird. Shirts that are typically $2.39 at other goodwills are $5+ at this location. That being said, dresses are normally $10 at other stores and this location had them for $6.99. I did find some cute stuff though. I can get past inconsistent weird pricing, my biggest issue was a dressing room situation. I came in the store at 4 pm and saw the opening to the dressing room had racks in front of it. I shopped for an hour and was ready to try stuff on and be done. I asked an employee about the dressing room and was told it was closed. So I asked a lady at the register who said the same thing but wouldn’t explain why. So the cashier called the manager and the manager told me they closed the dressing rooms due to cleanliness and safety of customers. As you can see in the pictures, the only thing in there was the racks blocking entry. She stated an employee was in there cleaning it right now and if it gets clean before close it would reopen, but they were short staffed so it probably wouldn’t happen. She also said I can buy stuff now and if it doesn’t fit, I could go through the hassle of returning it (only to get store credit, not my money back.) I told her I don’t buy anything without trying it on due to sizing inconsistency with clothes and asked if there was an alternative option for customers to try things on. She literally walked away from me and went to the back. I then stood by the dressing room for 30 minutes waiting, not a single person came to “clean,” and it wasn’t until other customers complained about the same thing that the manager moved the racks and reopened the area, without once “cleaning” the stalls. So it was never unclean or unsafe, the manager just didn’t want to open the rooms back up for whatever reason. Time for a new up date about this company I was at your Goodwill store in Bedford ,Texas. I can honestly say that I am beyond heart broken, and as well this has made me lose respect for your company Sir!!!Thier are words on your company wall, that is degrading to American Black citizen people!!!I didn't ask to be the color that I am on Jesus Christ earth.This is the color God wanted me to be. Yes, I am definitely blessed too have been chosen by our Heavenly Farther that doses not see color.The Holy Bible teaches us that we are made in Gods image!!!!! The CEO of Goodwill makes big money off all the free things people donate to the business. The restroom is always nasty and never any hand soap or paper towel. Now they make thier employees ask you for your hard earned money to donate to help thier company. Now if you ask this Goodwill to lower the price on thier product they want. OMG!!!
