When this Shipley's location first opened, I lived nearby and would go there at least 3X a week. It was really good. I moved a few years ago and haven't been back in a while, until this morning. Sadly, the quality has really gone downhill from what I remember.
1 dozen glazed, 1 dozen chocolate, and 1 dozen kolaches cost me $45 this morning. I could have gotten the same amount of donuts at any of the mom n pop donuts shops around town for 1/2 that price, and the quality would have been much better.
The glazed donuts were excellent, just like I remember. They are the only decent quality item I got with the money I spent here this morning. Good job on the glazed donuts.
The chocolate donuts were stale. I have no proof, but I'm 100% convinced they put chocolate icing on the day old donuts left over from yesterday and passed them off as made fresh today. They were terrible. Really disappointing.
The kolaches - wow, where do I start. OK, anyplace else in town, kolaches are $14/dozen. Here, they're $21/dozen. What do you get from paying 150% of the going rate at any other donut shop in town? You get the same little finger sized sausage wrapped in a really big roll that is seriously big enough to accommodate one of those jumbo sausage they sell at Quick Trip. There's a serious ratio imbalance between the bread and the sausage. This little bitty 3 inch sausage buried somewhere in this massive roll. I took 5 bites and got nothing but bread - no sausage at all. They make these look like the jumbo sausage rolls that the competition sells, but they only get the bread part of that equation correct. They could use a roll 1/2 the size they're using and have a decent product, but these were horrible.
In summary: Glazed donuts = Great! Chocolate donuts = Stale, tastes like day old donuts! Kolaches = Total ripoff! Price = Extremely excessive
Go here for great glazed donuts but avoid the rest, overall it was a huge disappointment. The quality and value are...
Read moreWonderful I enjoy everything this place is about... Bonus 🙏🏻 the Staff and environment is pleasant and friendly. I don't want to go to any other donut shop now. ✓For the Price I would say it's Reasonable ✓ ✓The selection for breakfast classics at donut shops it's one of the best, Kolachis are a lot more desirable with the bread being more like a bagel and offering fresh jalapenos in the cheese stuffed one. ✓ ✓I could go on about the donuts selection for a bit but it's just worth going for yourself. One comment wouldn't do it justice. ✓✓✓ For yourself 😉 Noticing the shop isn't the best in this busy section of the street, Google maps made it the advertisement that got me to go at least. With the above mentioned greatness, plus stays open until mid day, it's worth mixing in to donut shop favs. All these years I can't believe it was just 2 min down my street. Lol I'm surprised that I felt so good about this place that I was in to explaining my experiences so I hoped it was helpful,...
Read moreRude customer service from the drive thru attendant. Got my order wrong, had open bags at the drive thru for all kinds of bugs to get into it. He refused to put them into a box as I requested. I ask the manager and he lied about what I asked for saying I tried to get something for a cheaper price and left. I found this out after speaking with the manager and when I told the manager he interrupted my conversation to lie again and say he was not rude. The manager said this wouldn’t happen again but I doubt it. If you have a customer service person being rude in front of other customers and you don’t do anything about it I doubt he will tell him anything or do anything about the behavior. The rude employee stood there proudly with his chest poking out. Never have I ever had this type of service here before. I can guarantee I won’t return after I tried to resolve the issue and nothing was done to stop it while it was happening.
I get it you need people. But you need...
