want to first say, the staff here is absolutely amazing. I spend around &100-$150 a month on Pokemon cards for my niece and nephew, and they are always extremely helpful.
Today, I brought in three people for the signing and planned to buy Pokemon cards and a Nintendo NES. While they went to wait in line, I went over to the Pokemon cards. The store was definitely crowded, so I understood not being acknowledged for a good five to ten minutes. The owner was busy calling the employees “stupid” and essentially disrupting everyone doing their job. I felt for them, so I was patient.
Someone came in after me and the owner made eye contact with them and asked them what they were in for. After another five minutes, the owner looked at the guy and was grabbing the Pokemon cards he asked for. I asked him “why didn’t you acknowledge me when I’ve been standing here for ten minutes.” He looked like a deer in headlights. There was no apology, and then he got another employee to help the person behind me as he walked away. I’ve seen this owner a few times and everytime I am in there he is less than helpful.
The other employees offered me free autographs and a $50 gift card, which I declined because I don’t feel they need to make up for their owners issues. While I did purchase a few packs of cards, I decided to wait on my other purchases. As much as I truly appreciate the guys in this store, the owners behavior really ruined it for me. A simple “sorry” would have worked, but he decided to walk away.
There are many places to buy these cards, so I’m not sure I’m going to make the trip in anymore, especially when the owner doesn’t appreciate...
Read moreBeautiful and massive selection of vintage, retro, old, and new games and gaming consoles, as well as figures and statues. With a good location between a few restaurants, Ross, a grocery store, and other full-range family stores, the only caveat to the Retro Replay experience is when you step inside.
With no personal or professional attack intended, the inside of the store often smells like someone had been vaping in it. Though it's not heavy enough to cause any cloudy air or trouble breathing, the smell may be enough to deter some from returning.
Retro Replay has more than just games and statues, offering also records, DVDs, cassettes, DVD box sets, and VHS tapes. With the vast inventory, there's something for everyone, and all at very fair pricing, if not slightly upcharged.
Inside, the decór plays on nostalgia and interest, different generations, builds, and editions of consoles lining the upper shelves. Though it seems it, not all the consoles were for sale, but the staff were polite and cordial about sharing the information.
Finally, the store runs off of donations-while this isn't inherently an issue, it does mean that stock is not always fresh and not always new. For instance, the cassette tapes are seldom switched out-again, this is no fault of the store, but this is something for patrons to look out for.
Overall, Retro Replay is a great small business that any pop culture fan, new or old, in the area...
Read moreThis is a cute retro video game store. Easy to get lost in, for all the right reasons - the selection is quite eclectic. I was looking around for nearly an hour and I didn't even take a look at the vinyl records. They also have Pokémon cards.
Retro Replay had been on my hit list for over a year, but I always seemed to be in town when they were closed. If you're not from the area, expect grueling traffic to get back on 95, but I can't blame them for that.
The selection is very good with an assortment of TurboGrafx, Sega CD, and 3DO games. Needless to say, I was impressed. Another thing worth noting is that they don't have 1000s of old sports games - the wide selection of games is pretty strong.
I, however, found the good CIB games quite overpriced. The two games I was interested in were 50% (FFV on GBA) and 40% (Shining the Holy Ark) overpriced. I was looking to drop money on good games, but the unreasonable prices were off-putting. The response I got from the associate was "we keep the pricey games behind the counter." Okay... yeah, I know...
I was able to scoop up a couple of common PS1 and PS2 games, including a gift for my wife - score! I really wish I grabbed one or both of those games, but I just feel more comfortable ordering on eBay paying fair market value than through the nose for an...
