What a fantastic experience to be able to step back in time to the 1880s and visit the Marquis and Madame De Mores! The estate has been beautifully restored with a lot of the artifacts still pristine. This is a must do for anyone in the area whether you're interested in history or not. I had no idea this much history was here in ND!

If you are lucky enough to get Donald to tell you about the Estate, you will be in for a treat. He is so knowledgeable on everything from that time period, and more. Very personable, nice, and helpful. No question will be left unanswered...

Very cool historic home to tour that teaches you a lot about the history of Medora and its founding family. I love touring historic homes and this one was unique to me, because it was a blend of upper class mansion and western farmstead. A good portion of the furnishings are original to the home which was great to see. When you buy your tickets at the visitors center before you go to the house make sure you go through the gallery to learn more about the family and their background before you tour the home. Staff was super helpful and happily answered any and all of...

Exploring the Chateau and visitor center is really quiet entertaining, as well as informative. Learning about the origins of Medora, both initial success, and then disasters which followed, is fascinating. The experience also provides some insight into the servant - nobility complexities of the past. Young children may find the experience a little slow, however, families in general should find it very interesting. Admission for a vehicle (regardless of the number of occupants) was $30 at the time of...

If you're looking for an indoor activity to do with an option to walk outdoors to see the château, do this. I enjoyed the small museum and reading about the woman whom this town was named after, Medora. Cute little shop with a few tee-shirts that made me giggle. I was the only customer that day and I went in around 3 PM. It's off season until end of May. The gate was open so I was able to walk around the château. It's beautiful. Also the female employees where super sweet. Had good conversations with them.

Very interesting history & house. Staff was very helpful. They had a cart to help with mobility access from upper lot to house - but you have to be able to climb into golf cart. The doorways waste original, so wheelchairs need an attendant to get over the thresholds. Upstairs is not accessible, but they have a nice video.
