Boots bar & grill was were our party of 15 landed after an walking tour of Medora and then a scenic drive threw the Theodore Roosevelt Badlands National Park. (detailed review of park coming soon) Boots was filled but our large party was seated relatively quickly as another table cleared. I didn't catch our lovely and very attentive servers name but she knows who she is you killed it! Thank you from finding extra chairs, then finding more high chairs for the gaggle of small children we had, taking time to double check the orders were correct. Thank you. My buddy Danny got the ribeye and he enjoyed it very much. Couldn't finish it though... poor little guy🤣 I had the Traeger smoked pulled pork sandwich with seasoned fries much like the ones served at Rallys or Checkers, scrumptious! The sandwich size in itself was ok for the $13 price tag. The meat was perfect and not totally drenched in tons of seasoning, sauces and slaw. The slaw paired excellently with the pork and the less is more sauce attitude on the great sandwich. Definitely would recommend. Nobody at the adult table had a bad thing to say about the food. Some got the fish and chips, brisket, shrimp skewers, Dakota walleye (she said it needed lots of lemon), and Your Not my Boy Blue. The kids had nuggets, quesadillas, stuff like that. They said the Bloody Mary was very good and satisfying, garnished both with a thick slice of bacon, and a dill pickle spear. The decor looked to be a homage to the Cowboy Hall of Fame right across the street. Mens restroom were in between clean and getting dirty but again it was packed. Thank you Boots Bar and Grill, and especially our server! When I get your name I will update...
Read moreThis looks like the place to go, very busy. The sign said “seat yourself“ when we walked in, we, and several other groups, very awkwardly spent 15 or 20 minutes walking amongst the tables looking for a table to sit at which I think added to the congestion and confusion inside the restaurant, whoever sees an open table 1st is going to grab it regardless of who was there first. So it became a competition amongst those looking for a table. And when we were nearing the end of our meal, we had people very rudely and awkwardly standing over us and around us waiting for us to get up, so much for a relaxing meal…!
When we finally found a table, it still had the dirty dishes from the previous there, the waitress worked to get the table cleaned off but we ended up having to clean the table ourselves.
The mixed drinks were good, however, I ordered a sirloin, thinking in the middle of cattle country this would probably be an amazing steak. However, they brought out this skinny little slab of grizzly, fatty meat I don’t think it could’ve been three eights of an inch thick and it was not possible to cut one piece without trimming off gristle and fat. It looks like a standard US foods frozen package thing… My girlfriend had a burger that was equally unimpressive and the burger patty was hardly noticeable inside the bun.
Anyhow, it was very disappointing, I would...
Read moreThis is a true gem in the middle of town! We ate here 3 time in 3 days so where do I start? Okay:
The food. Delicious! Chicken wings - crispy and plump with BBQ sauce. We order these 3 days in a row!
Mushroom Swiss burger - juicy, cooked perfectly med- well with lots of cheese and mushrooms. We also added grill onions.
Onion rings - fantastic.
Pizza - we added numerous toppings to the large and it was great! The crust was crunchy around the edge, firm enough in the midde to hold all of the toppings but soft enough to fold (I'm from NJ originality).
Filet Mignon - perfectly cooked to medium rare accompanied by real mashed potatoes and sauteed carrots.
Buffalo Chicken Sandwich - perfect ratio of chicken to coating with a great spicy sauce.
Apple Pie Crisp - Amazing! Don't pass on this. Again, we ate this 3 times in 3 days.
The staff and service - terrific! A real team effort! Everyone is friendly, attentive, and more than happy to answer questions. They are always checking to make sure you're happy, removing used dishes, and asking if you need anything. The manager sets a tone of comraderie and fun and it shows.
The covered patio is a great place to sit with family and friends and is DOG FRIENDLY! A real plus for us as we travel with our German Shepherd.
We're sorry we don't...
