Keynote speaking for a District conference. This was our lodging (for context). 23 years of speaking and this by far has been one of the most personable, comfortable, “addressed every need with a smile” accommodations I’ve experienced. The staff are all willing to help, incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable— Spencer (I swear) must pull 20 hour day shifts and never tires to make sure you have what you need and always wears a welcoming smile. Kenny at the front desk (in fact all the front desk staff) were friendly and welcoming and knew exactly where to steer us for a local bite to eat. The rooms are comfortable- and after standing all day and night I was able to soak in a decent sized “never ran out of hot water” tub in my room. The food is delicious and the hot water and break rooms and conference rooms were meticulous and always had what was needed and modern tech/projector equipment and sound systems. I would recommend this for ANY conference needs and any hotel needs! Thank you for such a great experience!!

As an alumni that recently got to host a career fair booth at the hotel I was excited to finally check out this hotel that was built back when I was a student. My wife and I stayed at the hotel the night before the event. We were impressed immediately by the attentive and energetic staff right at the entrance. Check-in was a breeze. Our room was clean and in great shape. The design and feel of the entire hotel is more cigar lounge than modern which fits well with the overall campus feel. The staff in the on-site restaurant was friendly and helpful. The food was impressive. We ate breakfast and lunch in the restaraunt the day of the fair and I was impressed by the quality and selection. The ballroom used for the fair was nice and clearly designed with mobile walls to allow for flexibility in room size vs total rooms during an event. Overall we were impressed with the hotel and look forward to our next visit.

Let me start this review off with saying that I travel frequently and to hundreds of hotels a year. I had high expectations knowing that this was the Virginia Tech campus hotel. And because I had over a 6 hour drive to get there, I wanted to be absolutely sure that I could have an early check in. I emailed them about a month before my trip and was assured that I would receive an early check in as long as I asked at the front desk when I arrived. When I got there I was told that my room wasn't ready, because they were still cleaning... but that it would be ready at 1:30pm. They didn't even ask my name or room number so how would they know that my room wasn't ready. I specifically requested early check in over a month ago, if the front desk person knew that, for all I know it mightve been ready! I returned at that time that they told me to and IT STILL wasn't ready. I was told at that point that my room wouldn't be ready until 4pm!?! I dont understand why it takes more than 6 hours to clean ONE single room and that there are no rooms available in case of an issue. Are they understaffed or just poorly managed?! With no place to go, I literally just slept in my car. At 4pm i came back to check in and there was no acknowledgement or concern for my situation. I was rushed through and given my room very quickly. The person in front of me was asked if they wanted a higher level floor or lower level floor. I wasn't asked that. When I got to my room I realized that I was in the basement on the completely opposite side of the hotel. Did they do this to me on purpose? The rooms are extremely dated; embarrassingly so for the caliber of Hotel/Inn that they claim to be. The rooms were extremely noisy and the walls were paper thin. I couldn't sleep all night because of guest noise as well as banging of pipes in the wall or machines that were running. Fix that! The shower drain was broken and would not drain properly so I had to shower in a pool of dirty water. Fix that too! I was told that they offered shuttle service to campus and when I called to request a shuttle they said that the shuttle was not in service. When I checked out I was asked how my stay was. When I mentioned that it didn't go well beginning at check in, I was completely ignored. No acknowledgement. I will NEVER return here and this DUMP full of rude and disrespectful staff should not be associated with such a fine institution. It unfortunately tarnished the reputation of the university by associating with it. I hope that Virginia Tech will raise its standards for hotel partnership...

The setting for the Inn is beautiful. My husband and I were guest from June 11-14 and love the location but the service was unexpectedly lacking. And I am taking in to consideration all the changes due to Covid 19. There is NO room service unless you request it. Which I did after the first day, because I was not told when we checked in that you had to request room service the night before. Long story, short the second day No room service. On the third day we got minimal service. No new soaps, no straightening the bed when the trash was emptied no new bag in the garbage can, no new paper cups. I will say the young man at the front desk did bring us new towels on the second day. When we checked out I told the young lady at the front how we were disappointed in the service since we had never experienced this before while staying there. She just nodded and said she was sorry. I am sure the manager was there with her and he looked up from the computer and continued with his work. Maybe if we had experienced this in the past while staying there it could have been expected of course if this had been a prior experience we would not have gone back. Very different, everyone just going through the motions and really just do not care. This is not what you think of when you think of Virginia Tech. I do not like to be negative but you pay good money to enjoy a beautiful place when you are...

I stayed at the in for a week while hosting a corporate training event in the conference center. While I’ve stayed at the Inn before, and was quite comfortable there, I was more than a little disappointed this time. ||When checking in, the person at the front desk mentioned that the “cable is not working, but the university is aware of the problem and working to fix it.” Not sure much “working” was going on. The cable was not fixed during my stay—it was as broken when I checked out as it was at check in.||While I was annoyed by not being able to watch the news each morning, I was more bothered by the lack of transparency from the Inn and the series of conflicting stories I was told. While most of the front desk staff acknowledged the issue, one woman (who I spoke to in the phone) claimed not to know anything about the outage; gave me incorrect information about the General Manager, and promised to call me back with up-to-date information. Never heard back from her. I asked the bartender about the frozen screen in the bar, and she told me all about a series of bad tv’s that had been installed. One staff member told me “the service provider” would be onsite the next day. By then, I’d realized that it was all a series of lies and I just laughed.||It seems like the management of the Inn has grown pretty complacent. Hand over your money, but don’t expect them to care about...
