DeRomo's Gourmet Market — Attraction in Bonita Springs

3/19/22 was our 3rd trip to DeRomo's. We went there for some fresh Mozzarella, Pizza, Pepperoni Rolls and St Joseph pastries. Our first 2 trips for pastries left us disappointed. They were overpriced and dry. We figured it may have been a fluke. This time I paid attention to the whole store. It is nicely laid out but that's where it ended for us. The pastries once again were dry. I have bought better pastries from my local supermarket. No fresh mozzarella. They had packaged mozzarella on ice. I asked when it was made. The person behind the counter told me they didn't make it. He said that it gets shipped from Connecticut. He told me that fresh mozzarella wouldn't be ready for 90 minutes. This was just before lunchtime on a Saturday. I was baffled. I love Ribeye Steaks. I went to the meat case and found Choice Ribeye's for $23.99 per pound. The marbling and appearance was similar to what I buy at Costco for $10.99. This is clearly excessive. You can get Prime Ribeye's at Costco for $7 per pound less than the choice at DeRomos. There was a pretty big selection of pizza and many were not fresh. Several looked like they were made the day before. Some had a discolored look. The prices overall are excessive. Its ok to pay extra for things which are exceptional. I didn't experience anything...

My wife and I have been shopping at DeRomo's consistently for almost 10 years. Constantly meaning at least twice a week. We had gotten to know many of the workers there I am a salmon lover who has tried salmon from all the stores around Bonita Springs. I preferred the Sixty South Salmon at DeRomos's and have been purchasing salmon there about 2 times per week. It has always been the best. Unfortunately, the last two times the flavor has been off. A week ago, I asked to speak to someone regarding the issue as I obviously was leary about more purchases. I spoke with Tammy and she said she would investigate and call me. A week later and no call. We were in the store this week and I spoke with Tammy. First off, she said she didn't think she needed to call back. She then told me she investigated and there were no issues. And then she walked away. I spoke with the counter person who I frequently buy the fish from and he was much more concerned and provided a clearer explanation. I am not happy with the treatment. I will not purchase fish or anything else at DeRomo's. DeRomo's had a reputation for quality and an Italian identity. The corporatization in the last few years has caused it to lose a lot of its charm and passion for quality in food and service.

Extremely EXPENSIVE! I was so looking forward to visiting this place, l heard great things about it... You guys are seriously missing the boat, no pun intended. Italian people come to Florida from Italian neighborhoods near and far and are looking for a little piece of home. There are not many familiar feelings here! When no one knows what Pecorino Romano is, when the Ramano cheese comes cryo - vacced at $17.00 a lb, when Prosciutto is $29.00 a lb, when Boars Head Lunch Meat is a staple, when no one can pronounce the ltalian names of the cookies or pastries in the bakery, when Cannoli cake has a different name that the girls behind the counter can't pronounce. When the homemade pasta is more expensive than steak. When hell freezes over! A place for people who have little clue about the beautiful, rich, Italian Culture, food and traditions and want to spend their money foolishly. I am saddened at the despicable price gouging on...
