ABC Store — Attraction in Boone

Much like a lot of the mountain town buildings, this place is really nice. Having come from eastern North Carolina, I really like the rock/stone work on the exterior, and I realize it's a functional thing, but the pitched roof really does look a lot better than the blocks on the coast. The whole layout is all-around more appealing. Of course, the inside is pretty similar to every other ABC Store in NC, as they're a government-run entity. The guys who work there have always been quick and courteous in their service, and it has contributed to an all-around positive experience pretty much every time. The staff behind the counter was very rude and weren't willing to give me any options for returning the bottle I had purchased an hour earlier. I spoke with the same associate who sold me the bottle and they told me I could not get a refund and to "Go ahead and get on out of here". I was not asked to show my license at the time of purchase or at the time I tried to exchange/return it. The sales associates in Banner Elk are much more professional, they carded me at the time of my return and asked me if I would prefer a gift card or to get the return in cash. Great liquor store in downtown Boone! When you walk in, the first section has a selection of liquors distilled in NC, ranging from various moonshine options (who knew they made moonshine pickles?) to my personal favorite, Muddy River (distilled in Belmont NC and they make a great coconut rum).
