I was blown away by this school. I had low expectations being it is a very small school with a very high acceptance rate. I had never heard of the school and my daughter put it on her list as a "safety school." After attending the open house I hope it rises to one of her top choices. The campus is very quaint and comfortable. Felt very safe. It is surrounded by 5 other colleges. Very short walk to any class. Great program offerings, staff seems genuinely interested in the student's success. Great hands on learning and resources. Greatest concern is lack of student life b/c it is so small. Not much going on for students. If someone from the school is reading this... I can tell you, you would draw a lot more students to Wentworth if you worked out an agreement with Northeastern in terms of student clubs and activities. An example of this would be how Syracuse University allows SUNY ESF students to join/participate in the clubs and activities (Not the official D1 sports teams, just the intramural teams). This is the only concern holding back my child back from committing and I am sure she is not the only one who has hesitated or turned away for this reason. I am not talking lack of parties. I am strictly talking about fun and interesting clubs and activities. Wentworth works with the other small schools surrounding the campus but that is still lacking...
Read moreWent on a visit with my grandson with a preconceived perception of an intercity campus as I know them from intercity campuses in the NJ vicinity.
I was pleasantly surprised by Wentworth with both the campus and it's facilities.
Not some some armed containment area to keep students on campus, but rather free and open both in and around it.
Note that Wentworth isn't some White enclave in the middle of crime, destuction, and filth, but rather a charming, not overwhelming campus, in a large city environment geared to provide a superior education to all who choose to attend.
FYI, Boston has a population of some 250,000 college students so attention concerned parents, if little Madison or Josh can't get a date there's hope for them...
Read moreMy son is a current student at WIT. Both of us find WIT a difficult place to get anyone to be kind and courteous in helping if any is offered or provided. Our last incident is a STOP on our account for a $100 late fee applied by WIT for filing a health Insurance waiver late! We as a struggling family have asked the Institute to help us by waiving this fee but they refuse to all of our requests. They replied they will not accept him in Spring if he does not pay up the late fee. It feels as if they are the Giants and you walk on their land. So we either pay up for rejecting their imposed health insurance or we get out! If this had a zero I would give them...
