If you want to feel like a company is taking your money without any care for the customer, I suggest going to Sportsman's.
I purchased a new rifle, scope, etc here a few weeks ago, and it was like pulling teeth trying to get someone to put the scope on the gun. The first time I tried to get the scope put on was when I picked up the gun after a delay. They said that they were too busy since it was almost the weekend, and to comeback Monday. I was a little annoyed, but understood as it was pretty busy in the store.
First thing Monday morning I go into the store, and get told again that they could not put the scope on the gun, and to come back again Tuesday morning.
So here we are again, now Tuesday morning, and I get told again that I cannot get the scope put on, and to come in the next day. At this point I am sick of the run around. As I was heading out of the store, someone tells me that there would be someone in at 1230 that could put the scope on.
Later in the day, I call up the gun counter, and get told that hold up, there's actually no one that can put the scope on. At this point the only thing I could do was talk to a manager and try to find out what the deal is, and after explaining that I had just spent thousands of dollars at this store, he 'found' someone that could put the scope on.
So now we're in the store for the fifth time, I get to the gun counter, and the older guy who I had talked to in the morning started cursing me out since 'Apparently I didn't like his answer from earlier'. He quieted down real quick when I told him I had called his store manager. The gun counter manager eventually shows up and also tries putting me in the run around again saying oh come in on this day we will have someone here. I say no, get the general manager over here, I've had enough of wasting my time trying to get this done. Eventually someone comes and does it, and thankfully they do not charge me the 15 or 20 bucks it costs to get a scope put on.
On top of all this, many products are missing pricing. How do you expect me to purchase something if I don't even know what the price is??
It should not be so hard to get a scope put on a gun, especially when you just spent thousands of dollars. Scheels literally does this for free. If you spend thousands of dollars there, they actually care. I will not be going back. I would rather go somewhere that actually cares...
Read moreI'd give it a 5 star award if it weren't for my last experience. I wanted a .380 caliber pistol for a lady friend of mine for her protection. Nothing fancy just something economical and reliable for the price range I had in mind. With limited knowledge on the different makes and models, I went to Sportsman's Warehouse with confidence. They always treated me fair, had decent prices and carried quality products, so I thought who better to turn to. I went to the salesman at the counter to find out they were out of the specific DB.380 they had advertised for $235 I was looking for, but said they did have a used one he'd sell me for $150. and because they never fired the weapon for another $39.99 I could purchase a Firearm Service Plan for a gunsmith if it needed some work done. I didn’t buy into it at the time of purchase but had 30 days from the Date of Purchase to opt in.. It took me a couple weeks before I was able to get it to the range to try it. Turns out I couldn’t shoot 3 continuous rounds without a misfire. I had the range officer come over and shoot it and find out what he thought the problem was. It wasn’t the ammo he hasn’t heard of anybody having misfires from any caliber of their ammo. When I went to talk to them about it I was told it was still under the 30 days and could still purchase their Firearm Service Plan for $39.99 and they will send it off to their gunsmith to take a look at it and could get it back in about 4 weeks. "Are you kidding me!" You want me to spend even more money $190+ for a weapon that doesn’t even work right. When for $40 or $50 more was the cost for a brand new one. I am very disappointed. The way I was brought up, I couldn’t with a clear conscious sell a person a weapon I didn’t know worked or not. Maybe I'm just naive but I would have thought a well respected sporting goods and gun shop like the Bozeman Sportsman's Warehouse regardless of anything you could be confident any weapon they would sell would be in working order. Whether they think I'm wrong or not on this issue, in my humble opinion Sportsman's Warehouse has no business selling any firearm under any circumstances regardless of their stupid FSP that is not in working order. If they need my $190 that bad they can have it. Its unfortunate. Now Bob Wards is my first stop. Sportsman's Warehouse is my if all else fails...
Read moreAfter purchasing a firearm I ordered, I stopped by the Customer Service counter to check on the status of my hunting license. I was met with a less than helpful attitude. I handed her my license and told her I needed my upland bird license among other licenses. She could not find it in her system and she then told me that they no longer sell upland...just "some" licenses and that it was at the direction of the FWP. I knew this was false as I have renewed here every single year since the store opened. I pushed back lightly and she was clear that she could no longer help me, that it was an FWP decision, and she returned to her station. I said "thanks", left the store and made 3 calls. The first to FWP, the second to the Helena store, and the third to the Billings Sportsmans. Armed with this new information, I came back into the store and waited in line. When it was my turn, I let her know what I found out and she still refused to help as she now stated that nothing is listed in her system and there was nothing else to do. I nicely asked to see the store manager and she glared at me and walked off to get the manager. The manager came out and began to go through the system. Turns out, I just needed a re-print...the manager found all of my information and Sportmans Bozeman turns out still does indeed sell ALL hunting licenses. Now the unfortunate part...and the WHOLE reason for my review. I paid for my re-print, thanked him, said thank you and goodbye to the less than helpful cashier and she did this..."Is that a reprint"? She says in her best snarky tone turning away from her current customer. The irony here is that I think the manager was going to give it to me for free...and she called me out in front of a whole line of people. My blood pressure now out of my head...I simply point to the store manager and he literally waves to money so she can see it. I walked out...seething. I have never ever heard of a customer service story like this, let alone have it happen to me. Her head darted down when she found out I paid...and zero apology. My guess is she won't last long in the service business...and I shall return as a customer once...
