When I first got inside, the manager that appears to be Chinese with the name tag Harry did not greet me, instead he had a vicious look on his face and when he took me to the section with small tables, I asked if I can sit at one of the tables where I am not next to anyone since there were several small tablesavailable, instead he puts the menu at a side of a table where I would be right behind a customer, I asked if I can sit at the next one where I would have more space, he then tossed the silverware on that table. I then spent $16 for the chicken teriyaki where the first part tasted decent to say it mildly, and the top part was cold. After getting treated badly and wasting money on terrible food, I decided to go back the next day and that same manager has that same cruel look on his face when he walks towards me and I asked why he treated me like that, then when he sat down near the entrance he blew me off right away by saying that they are busy rather then an apology, and they we're not even busy. Later I told someone that is a Bozeman citizen what happened, he agreed that the teriyaki chicken is terrible and it is ran by a Chinese family instead of Japanese, by which they are trying to use a Japanese steakhouse to take way more then what the food is worth.
Response to owner: Everything you said is a lie except 20% was took off the bill for the teriyaki chicken. I told that manager that the Japanese has honor by which he does not have, and it turned out that you are a chinese family from what I found out later that day, you have the nerve to lie about me saying a racist remark. You got so caught up in exaggerating that you said it was a waitress, when it was the manager harry that was near the door that gave me a vicious stare for a moment and took me to the tables, by which he did not say anything to me the whole time when I just mentioned that I would like a regular table since it was my first time and all I knew was that they had table's for cooking infront of guest, and tables where they are not doing that, so I was alright with the smaller tables, yet he wanted to be a jerk and seat me right behind someone when there was all kinds of those smaller tables available, then he threw my silverware to the next table when I just simply asked so both me and that other person would have room. I was nice enough to give a $6 tip to my waitress, I feel that the manage took advantage of me going there by myself and treated me badly, unlike a group that would go there to watch a lousy show from the food being cooked from a spatula, and spending alot of money ontop of all the tips they would pay for the spatula show. The next day after it all from the manager and the food being awful for that amount, I went there before 12 and there was no one around unlike how you lied about it being busy, and as harry was walking past the empty tables to the empty hallway, and as I was explaining in a decent way how I did not appreciate what happened the night before, he sat down like he had nothing to do and said that they are busy, rather then just take a short moment to say something kind. After I finally got tired of his crap I told him that he does not have honor like the Japanese, then I directly walked to the door to exit, as I had my hand on the door knob he said something, I turned around and asked what he said, then he said leave as I was already doing, so I decide to walk over and look at his name tag and tell him that I am going to leave a detailed review on the internet, then as I get to the door, he keeps ranting leave as if he was trying to get me mad. You are definitely bad apples that are trying to deceive the...
Read moreThe manager was very rude to my son before we even sat down! We literally walked in the door the manager said we can only sit on this side of the restaurant, we explained we drove 2 hours because my son wanted to eat here. Than as we sat down he informed our waitress we had to order immediately and to make room for other customers. I finally had to just get in his face and asked his what the problem was and he finally backed off. He tried to explain it away as confusion with what we're going to order. Had to tell him we didn't even get our menus yet. Thankfully he left and we got to order our food in peace.
I have to acknowledge the waitress Claire, she was really great during all this and I gave her a very good tip.
The food was just ok, I would give it 4-5 out of 10. My wife is Asian and she can cook amazing Asian food. So the sushi was obvious not very fresh and was way too fishy smelling and tasting. This is from it being frozen for a long time or way past it date for freshness. The chicken was very dry and seemed like was dry from leaving it on a counter too long, which made it dry on one side. Noodles and vegetables were way soggy. I think the biggest problem was there was hardly any flavor, they didn't use seasoning on most of the meats. I think they tried to rely on the sauce the pored on it. So basically I was tasting chicken with a tiny hint of flavoring.
If this is what the managers interpretation of Asian dishes, he's not giving his customers the best quality food. I can name a few fast food Asian restaurants that have much higher quality food than this. I can't believe I paid over $200 for our meal there, and realistically should have paid less than $100 for the quality including the tip.
The only thing going for the food was the presentation. Which was great, but all when away after the first bite. I would never recommend this restaurant because of the manager and the food. I think it's way overpriced, and was just a horrible experience for my son's birthday.
I've been to many Asian restaurants in my live and travels. I'm usually impressed because most restaurants are great. I have only given only one other bad review of another restaurant, which was a Mexican restaurant. I can safely say this is the worst reviewing our of hundreds of restaurants...
Read moreI'm really torn on this review. Unsure whether to give 3 stars as benefit of the doubt or 2 stars. I hate giving poor reviews.
Staff was great. Mostly the food wasn't terrible. Took my 14 year old daughter to Wasabi for her birthday dinner. Neither of us had been there before. I've been craving sushi for a while. I figured a Japanese steak house that serves sushi should be safe, right?
I'd heard mixed feedback on Wasabi from friends and coworkers.
I ordered spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, and spicy salmon as a combo meal from the entree menu. See photos attached to review. Presentation was disappointing. The fish... was colorless. You literally cannot identify the fish as being different. Honestly, they tasted the same too. And, as a guy who likes very simple sushi without lots of extra flavors, sushi grade Tuna doesn't have a distinct taste. What I ate here tasted like canned tuna. Like, when you make a tuna sandwich. If I wanted a tuna fish and rice roll I could make it at home. This is not sushi grade fish that I was served. And if you look close you can tell the fish was minced and mixed with something. Seriously. The lunch sushi boxes at the local grocery stores is better. I'm not exaggerating. Oh. There's also nothing "spicy" about these spicy rolls.
The miso soup. That was unimpressive as well. Not terrible. But certainly not a good miso.
The kids seemed to like their meals just fine. They all left full. I did not try their food so I can't review that.
The men's room. There's a reason the lights are on a dimmer. The walls above the urinal are disgusting. Do people spit on the walls in there often? Or have they never, ever been washed? I left the men's room thinking one thing. You can tell a lot about a restaurant's kitchen by its bathroom.
This is not fine dining. The table tops look worn in the center. The fake bamboo plants between seating sections look like PVC pipes painted green with 80s style plastic leafs stuck in them.
We didn't get to experience the hibachi table since we didn't have a reservation. Hopefully that would have at least added some fun to it.
The best thing about my visit was having a Madison River Brewery beer in a Madison River Brewery glass.
In the end. I can say I've been to Wasabi. But I can also say I don't have a...
