Beautiful facility, but I’m honestly still shocked by how I was treated during my visit this evening. While my teenage daughter was checking out at the front desk, I decided to use the restroom before we headed home. It was around 6:55 PM, and the library closes at 7:00. A librarian literally chased me into the bathroom to tell me I couldn’t use it because the library was “closed.” Such bizarre behavior. Mind you, I was wearing my baby in a carrier, and we were clearly leaving immediately afterward. I waited for my daughter to finish checking out, and we were in our car in the parking lot by 6:59 PM. While I understand (and respect) the need to close on time, this felt unnecessarily aggressive and rude. I could’ve just ignored her and used the restroom anyway (and maybe I should have), but I was being considerate and respectful. Meanwhile, she was on a power trip in the least appropriate way.
I’ve worked in customer service jobs before and could never have treated someone this way. I’ve even worked in restaurants during college where customers stayed well past closing, and I would never have chased someone into a bathroom or denied them the ability to go.
It’s basic human decency to let someone —especially a mother with a baby, use the restroom during the clearly stated operating hours. There’s a big difference between enforcing rules and completely lacking compassion. I hope this review inspires them to do better...
Read moreThe library itself is gorgeous, there are lots of books, and the computers are up to date. However, don't attempt to go to there to do any sort of work because the librarians and other visitors treat the establishment as though it's bar or other special environment. It's very noisy, filled with inconsiderate laughter, and nobody cares, least of all the librarians. I attempted several times to shush everyone, but nobody noticed or cared. I am so disappointed that my tax dollars pay for a place I can't even access properly. This is the worst library I've ever been too, the thoughtless rude behavior is unlike anything I've ever seen in such an...
Read moreThis library isn’t the most comfortable place to spend time. There aren’t many chairs, especially if you’re looking for a quiet, private spot to sit and focus. And the chairs they do have are pretty uncomfortable. On top of that, the staff can be really distracting. Some of the girls working there are often watching videos and talking loudly. One of them laughs so loud you can hear it all the way across the library, even in the kids’ area. It’s hard to concentrate with that kind of noise in...
