Strangers in the night review! <3 We hope you enjoy! Traveling into smaller towns we're always wary of what places we might end up. We were pleasantly surprised by Cottom Calf Kitchen. The Atmosphere was comforting and relaxed but still classy. We chose to sit outside as it was a beautiful day and they had an outdoor fireplace that really set the mood that fits both casual and/or romantic ambiance. Staff was very nice and very accommodating. We enjoyed the food and people so much we came back the next day to try more stuff. The Crab and artichoke dip: We were split on this I thought it was delicious very flavorful, good chunks of both artichokes and crab. It wasn't too heavy. Cooked to perfection and not overly cheesy. My Love didn't enjoy it as much as I did.. because she doesn't like artichokes... but loves artichokes dips... *eye roll* I would definitely recommend. It's served with delicious pita bread triangles. Rating 8.2 Duck Egg rolls: They were alright. The best thing about them was the sauce. They were cooked correctly not too hard or soft. We just couldn't get into the flavor profile. Rating 6.1 Ahi tuna: This dish ended up being to salt for us. The tuna was very fresh and delicious but the sauce was a mixture of fish sauce and soy we believe. Overpowered the tuna a bit too much. Filet Mignon with mash potatoes: the filet was perfectly cooked medium rare as you can see in the picture. The filet was extremely flavorful which you usually don't find in filets. Perfectly salted and not ruined with over seasoning or some weird sauce. Definitely one of the best filets we've had. Mashed potatoes were delicious not overly whipped still had some potato texture in them. Rating 9.2 Crab Cake: The Crab cake was Very very good. Cooked to perfection. It did not have a bunch of additives in it. Exactly how a crab cake should be. We Highly recommend this. Rating 9.1 Heirloom Tomato Salad: The tomatoes were super flavorful and fresh. The big chunks of gorgonzola cheese were delicious, of course. I don't usually like nuts in my salad but the way they were chopped actually made them enjoyable. The Balsamic glaze was a little overpowering. Oysters: We love a good blue point oyster but aren't purists though. We eat them with horseradish/cocktail sauce/ and a cracker. Give it a try! We always try to kill each other with too much horseradish. "Bonding experience with the ones you love" lol. The cocktail sauce had pineapple in it.... weird. Rating 6.4 (pineapple Cocktail) Bacon wrapped scallops: Bacon wrapped scallops were cooked absolutely perfect. It's not often you find the Bacon and the scallop are cooked to perfection but they nailed it on this one. We weren't huge fans of the Risotto but neither one of us are "Risotto people" 8.9 ( Scallops were excellent) Drinks: Watermelon martini: literally tastes like a watermelon jolly rancher. You can't taste the alcohol at all. Which makes it delicious yet dangerous. 8.9 Dirty martini: a great dirty martini (grey goose) with bacon/blue cheese stuffed olives. Asked for it extra dirty which they did successfully but also brought a shot glass of olive juice to add more if I liked. Very accommodating. 8.9 Old fashioned: Japanese Old fashioned was well made. I don't think I'm a fan of the Japanese Whiskey used so I'd rate it 5.4 out of 10 Smokey Maple nut old fashioned: It was good a little too sweet and mapley 5.9 T&J

It’s worth the hype, ya’ll! I’m often very skeptical of highly rated restaurants because they usually can never live up to the hype they receive, but this place is not one of them! This place is worth all the 5 stars and the higher price tag that comes with it. I’ve had lots of steaks, from Longhorns and Texas Roadhouse, to Ruth’s Chris and Fogo de Chao, other local steakhouses in GA, and even steaks in Paris, France and let me just say…….the filet mignon cooked medium blows them all out of the water. 🔥🔥🔥 I don’t know how they cook it, even though we got a front row seat to the kitchen. They cook it in some kind of open flame oven like a broiler but MAN OH MAN is the flavor AMAZING. I asked for a side of steak sauce before receiving my steak but it was not needed at all. The steak was so tender, so juicy, and crispy on the outside, it was perfect. We were also slightly put off by the ala carte sides, but our waiter assured us they were big enough to share and he was right! We go the mushroom risotto and brussel sprouts and had more than half of each to take home with us. They are big portions. The mushroom risotto was more cheesy than mushroomy and it was delicious! The Parmesan crusted brussel sprouts were not your average Parmesan crusted brussel sprouts, either. They were way better than anything else I’ve had. We had wine with our meal and unfortunately one of those pesky gnats landed in my husband’s drink. Within minutes the manager came by and got him a fresh glass and apologized profusely and comped his wine. Totally not needed as we get those little pesky gnats at home too, but a really nice and appreciated touch. Now for dessert! It was my birthday so I selected a slice of raspberry white chocolate cake. The dessert menu is so large! But what I didn’t know is that on your birthday they will also bring you a free dessert! I wish I had known that as I would not have also ordered the cake, but it’s nothing to be mad at. I’m glad I got to try both. Overall, we had a 5/5 experience and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a great steakhouse for a special occasion. It really does live up to the hype and is worth the extra prices. (It was about $250 for filet mignon, classic ribeye, 2 sides, 2 wines, 1 dessert, + tip).

Such a WONDERFUL experience! We decided to go to Chateau Elan and wanted a restaurant that was in the area since we decided to stay the night this time on the property. Finding this local eatery was a GEM! We were told that it might be hard to get in but we came early and was able to get a seat at the bar! Front door parking (and other parking behind too if you need it). We ordered the Crab Cakes (a bit pricey but we'll worth it considering it is 90% lump), the seafood tower( Oysters,Giant Prawns, Lobster Claw Meat, Lump Crab, you can choose 3 or 4 items, the Chilean Sea Bass( cooked perfectly) and Potatoes, oh and the GUMBEAUX, was really good, the first okra they put on top, I should've ordered on the side. We did order the Lamb Chops but there was a temperature issue, but it was fixed immediately. We weren't expecting the Manager April to stop by to Apologize for a couple of mishaps, but the experience was so good that we didn't even care. This waitress Montine stopped by when we first got I and was offering suggestions, she even stopped by later to see how we enjoyed it. Such a bubbly personality! Nicole I think Manager too behind the bar with Riley.... THE BEST SERVICE ! She heard her name and she was on it! A patron dropped some money in the bathroom, another patron brought it to a Manager who brought it to the patron they thought! Just good wholesome honest homegrown restaurant. Drinks were good, I wanted a Hot Chocolate with Baileys with the cheesecake (1 of 8 dessert options) , it was GREAT! NO AUTOMATIC GRATUITY, no paid parking! BEST TO MAKE A RESERVATION But the best food and service ever! They took ownership of mistakes and made it right even in a packed out house! Definitely be back there! Willing to drive 2 hours just to! Tab was $300 for all our drinks, and food

Was NOT worth the money. My husband and I used to love The Cotton Calf and recommended all of our friends. But after our last experience, we will never go back and we will NEVER recommend.

We went on a double date with our friends and had the worst experience. Our service was very slow - our waiter spilled my friend's glass of champagne on the table and plates. He did offer to comp the champagne and got her a new glass, but he grabbed the plates so quickly that the champagne spilled all over my husband's shoulder. He also didn't comp the correct drink, so my friends ended up having to pay for the champagne anyways. All of our steaks were incredibly disappointing. We all ordered filets, but they were all overcooked and did not taste right. We new that the kitchen was busy and our waiter might have been overwhelmed, so we did not complain to him. We decided we would just send a polite email about our food when we got home. Our server had to redo our checks three times and eventually we ended up just letting it go and had to Venmo our friends $35 to fix the mistakes. Our server packed up our food for us, but when we got home and opened up our boxes, he had mixed up all of our food. My husband ordered the crab dip and it had turned blue after only having it in the fridge for 24 hours.

My friends call Vincent about their experience first and he took care of them really well. He refunded them and gave them $200 in giftcards, Our friends let him know that we were also disappointed with our experience and that would be reaching out as well. Vincent was not kind to us at all. He acted as if we were a bother and an inconvenience. We were very polite, but he was argumentative. He accused us of lying about the glass of champagne spilling on my husband, was not apologetic at all, and did not refund us our entire check like he did our friends. He also did not include gift cards (which is fine we didn't ask for any, but it is odd that he was so kind to our friends and not us).

If Vincent had been kind and apologetic, we probably would have given The Cotton Calf another shot. But after the way he treated us over the phone, we will not be going back. I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt this was necessary after the way I felt after...
