Strangers in the night review!
Read moreIt’s worth the hype, ya’ll!
I’m often very skeptical of highly rated restaurants because they usually can never live up to the hype they receive, but this place is not one of them! This place is worth all the 5 stars and the higher price tag that comes with it.
I’ve had lots of steaks, from Longhorns and Texas Roadhouse, to Ruth’s Chris and Fogo de Chao, other local steakhouses in GA, and even steaks in Paris, France and let me just say…….the filet mignon cooked medium blows them all out of the water. 🔥🔥🔥
I don’t know how they cook it, even though we got a front row seat to the kitchen. They cook it in some kind of open flame oven like a broiler but MAN OH MAN is the flavor AMAZING. I asked for a side of steak sauce before receiving my steak but it was not needed at all. The steak was so tender, so juicy, and crispy on the outside, it was perfect.
We were also slightly put off by the ala carte sides, but our waiter assured us they were big enough to share and he was right! We go the mushroom risotto and brussel sprouts and had more than half of each to take home with us. They are big portions. The mushroom risotto was more cheesy than mushroomy and it was delicious! The Parmesan crusted brussel sprouts were not your average Parmesan crusted brussel sprouts, either. They were way better than anything else I’ve had.
We had wine with our meal and unfortunately one of those pesky gnats landed in my husband’s drink. Within minutes the manager came by and got him a fresh glass and apologized profusely and comped his wine. Totally not needed as we get those little pesky gnats at home too, but a really nice and appreciated touch.
Now for dessert! It was my birthday so I selected a slice of raspberry white chocolate cake. The dessert menu is so large! But what I didn’t know is that on your birthday they will also bring you a free dessert! I wish I had known that as I would not have also ordered the cake, but it’s nothing to be mad at. I’m glad I got to try both.
Overall, we had a 5/5 experience and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a great steakhouse for a special occasion. It really does live up to the hype and is worth the extra prices. (It was about $250 for filet mignon, classic ribeye, 2 sides, 2 wines, 1...
Read moreWas NOT worth the money. My husband and I used to love The Cotton Calf and recommended all of our friends. But after our last experience, we will never go back and we will NEVER recommend.
We went on a double date with our friends and had the worst experience. Our service was very slow - our waiter spilled my friend's glass of champagne on the table and plates. He did offer to comp the champagne and got her a new glass, but he grabbed the plates so quickly that the champagne spilled all over my husband's shoulder. He also didn't comp the correct drink, so my friends ended up having to pay for the champagne anyways. All of our steaks were incredibly disappointing. We all ordered filets, but they were all overcooked and did not taste right. We new that the kitchen was busy and our waiter might have been overwhelmed, so we did not complain to him. We decided we would just send a polite email about our food when we got home. Our server had to redo our checks three times and eventually we ended up just letting it go and had to Venmo our friends $35 to fix the mistakes. Our server packed up our food for us, but when we got home and opened up our boxes, he had mixed up all of our food. My husband ordered the crab dip and it had turned blue after only having it in the fridge for 24 hours.
My friends call Vincent about their experience first and he took care of them really well. He refunded them and gave them $200 in giftcards, Our friends let him know that we were also disappointed with our experience and that would be reaching out as well. Vincent was not kind to us at all. He acted as if we were a bother and an inconvenience. We were very polite, but he was argumentative. He accused us of lying about the glass of champagne spilling on my husband, was not apologetic at all, and did not refund us our entire check like he did our friends. He also did not include gift cards (which is fine we didn't ask for any, but it is odd that he was so kind to our friends and not us).
If Vincent had been kind and apologetic, we probably would have given The Cotton Calf another shot. But after the way he treated us over the phone, we will not be going back. I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt this was necessary after the way I felt after...
