We had a fantastic time! I’ve driven past this place countless times over the years while visiting family in the area, but today I finally decided to stop in — and I’m so glad I did!
We started by browsing the gift shop and then decided to take the self-guided tour. Let me tell you, we had no idea what we were in for! For just $8 per person, we were given a handheld MP3 player and set loose in the museum. It was incredibly easy to navigate, and the audio guide was packed with fascinating information — everything from local stories and animal facts to detailed insights into taxidermy and more.
One of the most fun parts was following the scavenger hunt-style checklist to spot every creature in the displays. We spent way too much time trying to find a well-hidden locust in the final exhibit — and loved every second of it.
The gift shop also has many cool things from rocks, hides, Shirts, Custom knives and so much more!
Highly recommend stopping in if you're...
Read moreWe stayed 2 nights this weekend at Trout Haven cabin and went to the museum! The museum was awesome and there’s a window to view live taxidermy! The cabins were very clean and well decorated and a very good price! We got free access to the museum for staying there. There are two cabins with a hot tub to share in between, no one else was there so we got it all to ourselves! Each cabin has a fire pit, campsite style grill, and a propane grill. They are very close to the main road but you don’t notice because of the privacy fence. The owners are very sweet and informative, they are aslo easy to get ahold of after hours. Extra sheets and toiletries were provided as well as any kitchen utensils needed. They fire wood is also provided! We will 100% stay here again. I have included pictures of the entire property because there isn’t many online!...
Read moreBJ was awesome! Their knowledge on the local area and the wildlife around it made my whole experience worth it. The taxidermy was entertaining(though i’m disappointed they didn’t have a rat as a cowboy), and kept all of my group on their toes. I’ve never seen a taxidermied elephant or many of the African animals I saw. Seeing them made me want to go to Africa and explore. Live taxidermy was interesting as well, I’ve never seen someone taxidermy and animal before. Also the gift shop was creative and was mostly different rocks. An $8 ticket made all of that worth it, and I’m so glad I got to treat the Bride in my group to a good experience. Thank you BJ and Beavers Bend Wildlife Museum for making the bachelorette party even...
