We were referred to Beavers Bend Lodging by a friend. I was very impressed with the variety and availability of cabins for the dates we wanted. After researching all options online, I decided on the Hickory Hill by the Pond cabin for our family to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday weekend.
The email communication from Beavers Bend to locate and access the cabin was perfect. No trouble at all. When we arrived we were blown away at how beautiful this cabin was. The weekend was PERFECT in every way possible. My wife says it was the best weekend of her life (including our honeymoon?).
Hickory Hill featured two bedrooms, each with it's own bath. The master had a queen sized bed and the second room had two twins. There was also a third twin mattress available if we wanted it. The master had the washer and dryer inside the closet space which was very convenient.
The living area was wonderful as well. The leather couch and two chairs were very comfortable. The TV had cable and a DVD attached. We didn't watch too much TV as there were too many other things to do!
The kitchen was fully stocked with an electric stove, two microwaves, a dishwasher and full sized fridge. There were ample dishes, cups and cookware. They also had a journal with past guests documenting their stays which we very much enjoyed reading.
Our favorite part of this cabin was the covered outside fireplace, kitchen, dining area. We moved the two rockers in front of the fireplace and enjoyed an absolutely wonderful evening in front of the fire during a rainy evening. It was magical!!!!
There is a shared pond behind the cabin which we didn't utilize. The cabin is very conveniently located just off the highway, but we couldn't hear anything. It was very peaceful. Janet's Treasures was directly across the highway and the State Park entrance was right there. We couldn't have picked a better cabin!!!
We enjoyed every single aspect of our trip and have committed to returning on an annual basis. I give two big huge thumbs up both to Beavers Bend Lodging and the Hickory Hill cabin. Thank you again for making our stay the BEST weekend of my wife's first...
Read moreWe recently (early October 2014) visited Beaver's Bend for our 37th wedding anniversary and loved it. The leaves are just starting to think about changing, and on occasion you get a sight of ruby red and yellow. Wildlife was limited to some butterflies and a few squirrels. We stayed in the Bradley cabin which has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and a hot tub on the porch. I loved the American decor. The kitchen was fully stocked with as many pots, pans, utensils, dinnerware and glasses that a person could need. It also had a full sized refrigerator (complete with coffee and some ice trays), microwave and a nicer coffee pot than we have at home. It has a very nice porch and sitting area by a "home-made"fire pit. And there is a small (charcoal) grill that was ready for use. The bed was very comfortable. As was the living room, complete with 2 arm chairs and a throw on each one.And a television complete with cable channels. Very, Very welcoming. I refrain from giving Bradly cabin 5 stars because, our toilet seat was broken. It was hard to sit on it without it feeling like was coming off. I am also afraid that the toilet was leaking because several times I had water on the floor. The dining table chairs, also were in need of some re-glueing and most felt unstable and wobbly.
We had a great time in Beavers Bend. We rode a kayak and we rented a boat at the marina. The guys at both places were great! And helped us with out a lot. We ate at most of the restaurants. My husband loved the Grateful Head pizza, and I liked the Blue Rooster. Girls Gone Wine was fabulous! We also enjoyed hiking and shopping at Teresas Treasures and an antique shop just north of Broken Bow, on the east side of the road.
Our trip was enjoyable and relaxing. We don't let some small cabin inconveniences get in our way. Thanks for the hospitality and we hope to return real soon! Your friends in north...
Read moreMy family and some close friends stayed at the OK Corral January 23-25th. It was a last minute get away to celebrate my 34th birthday. If you're looking at this cabin and are even slightly considering booking it, DO IT! You will not regret your stay here!! I was excited by the photos but sometimes images can be misleading.. well this is not the case here! What you see is what you get. The cabin was beautiful and more importantly completely spotless! Beds were so comfy. The kitchen was stocked with any and every thing you might think of, blenders to slow cooker. Fireplace flicks on with the turn of a switch, jacuzzi was hot and ready to go. The pool table and shuffleboard kept us busy but if you have little kids (we had 2 toddlers) there was a TV with cable in every room. Each morning we would wake up and quietly open the blinds to find several deer by the deer-feeder. The kids LOVED the playground right in the back yard. The lake is a short 10min drive away from the cabin(if we go back in warmer weather we will be renting a boat and fishing next time). Honestly everyone there ranging from 2 - 45 had the best time. I can't wait to find an excuse to come back.. Thank you SO much for a...
