Don't let the name fool you. This was an amazing cabin very reasonably priced. We choose a 2 bedroom, two bath cabin that was fairly isolated. The cabin was immaculate. All linen, towels and utensils were provided. This cabin provided Everything you could want for a very pleasurable stay. This cabin had everything but the food, and even that was no problem with a well stocked kitchen, and a brand new gas grill outside begging for steaks to be thrown on. My wife and I had the master bedroom. Very comfy bed and pillows and satellite TV. My daughter had her on private bed with a really nice game room area and a big screen TV. My son had the downstairs bedroom with TV and private bath. The living area was amazing with fireplace and big screen TV, very comfy recliner and couch. Huge patio area with a double swing rocker, sitting area with chairs, and even a hammock. It was all so relaxing. We visited this area over Columbus day. Very light traffic and outstanding weather. This two story cabin very well qualified as a house. Very peaceful with no neighbors around. There were other cabins in the area, but we never heard any loud music or noise. There was also a private pond to fish. This is for cabin renters only, so we pretty much had the whole pond to ourselves. The pond also had a private fishing pier. This was a big hit with my daughter. The hot tube was also a big hit at night. Tranquil, starry night with a glass of wine. The cabin was right off of highway 259. Approximately 2 miles away were really fine eating establishment, shops and a petting zoo. You have to make it to the petting zoo. Really knowledgeable staff as well as hands on with animals. Down the road was an ATV rental place. I do not recall the name, but that was the highlight of our trip. We rented a four seater. The folks there were very accommodating. We advised them that we did not have a trailer hitch or trailer to pull the atv. NO Problem. They hooked us up with a trailer hitch and trailer. Once loaded, we proceeded down highway 258 about two miles to atv trails. Nobody else around. It was a blast. beautiful scenery, and wildlife. All trails are specifically marked so you don't get lost. Huge area to blaze. It was an amazing adventure for us since we had never done anything like this before. Really good breakfast, lunch or dinner places, all within close proximity to our cabin. Can't wait to...

The good: The location of this cabin is wonderful. Very close to the park and further back from the road than many other cabins. The cabin itself was spacious with a very good layout. It was also extremely well stocked with anything you might need while there -- I was surprised at how the kitchen had every single thing you could possibly want, which is really nice if you are planning to prepare meals. The porch was so nice too - lots of space/outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful scenery that surrounds the area.
The bad: There were two main problems. The first being that the cabin was not clean at all. It was honestly a little shocking. The floors had debris all over them (they had not been swept at all). There were chips all over the kitchen floor. There was food (?) spilled over the side of one of the couches and all down one of the doors. The table was extremely dirty (there was tomato sauce / food particles all over the placemats and table itself). The little island part in the kitchen with two places to sit was also extremely dirty. There were crumbs all in the seats and the placemats there were covered in sticky food too. There was a giant toenail in the bathroom floor downstairs. Honestly, to walk in to all of that was pretty disgusting. We spent the first hour or two cleaning so we would feel comfortable enough staying there. The linens on the beds were old and worn. One set of the sheets was stained up. We ended up only utilizing some of the beds. Another major issue: the heater upstairs did not work - the heat from the bottom floor eventually radiated up so it stayed warm enough - but at a colder time this would be a big issue.
Full disclosure: we did not call to complain - we were only there for the weekend and didn't want to have to deal with a service call for the heater. I'm sure they would have tried to repair it if we had let them know.
Fortunately, after reading so many good reviews (which is why we picked this cabin!) it seems our experience was the exception, not the rule. Maybe it was just an "off" weekend for them. Unfortunately, this was our first trip to the area and first impression of the cabin/this company, so we will go with a different company next time. We will definitely return to Beaver's Bend -- but will without a doubt stay...
Read moreWe (husband and I )were very happy to find a last minute location and Janet was very clear and shared all the tips on how I would be able to access the cabin. Cabin was priced a little on the high side given the age. We stayed in the Bradley. However, the bed was super comfortable and we loved that the towels and extras were available to us. The only down side was the ants in the kitchen and bathroom sink area. We had read a review about this however, they were sugar ants and they are not gross, just bothersome. My husband does pest control and explained that it is difficult to really rid the situation unless you pull out the stove and really have the house sprayed well. We had our pets with us and they were curious of the smells of other pets there before us. That was entertaining. Not as entertaining as the GIANT Orb spiders that made their home above and around the hot tub. I may have jumped out of my skin a little. That is nature and something to somewhat expect. Perhaps a broom sweep of those areas in the corners when making the cabin ready for guests. We could not use the hot tub as a result, but perhaps if we were not paying $175 per night I could have got passed that. For the price, those details do matter to a guest. Hubs said he would stay again, I would consider it but for a better price. It was mid-week after summer dates (kids and families back in school) , I would imagine a lower price for the accommodations. But that...
