My wife and I had a very enjoyable day. I chose the Valentine's Flyer to give us an opportunity to do something different and I don't regret it! We had two hours each way of "us time" to enjoy the scenery and talk about us. A younger couple sitting across from us was truly in love and it showed. I am a fan of love & happiness!
I wish the train had been decorated a bit more for the Valentine's day excursion, but I reminded myself what had been provided was thanks to volunteers who were very attentive to all the passengers.
The two hour stop in Burnet was nice. Hopefully this quaint town will have more to offer in the future and benefit from Texas tourists. They did have a few nice antiques shops. Unfortunately, the town square restaurants seemed a bit unprepared for the trains arrival.
One shop keeper stated the North Pole Flyer is the best because, "the train is decorated with Christmas lights and so is the Town Square."

I only wish we had made a dry run from the hotel the night before, to find the will call ticket office. We thought the train would leave at 10am, so there was a little bit of panic, on arrival. If staying longer than one night, I recommend the Bungalo Hotel. It is a 6 min. drive from the "depot". Now that we know where it is, it will be even better...
Read moreThe posting on Google Maps of the Burnet location is a fraud at best. The only thing there is a couple of shacks that supposedly are the “depot”. None of the pictures on that location postings are true. I am not sure where they were taken but certainly not there. The “depot” is in the remote part of an HEB parking lot. The posting says there is a museum there. That’s fake information. We drove 40 miles based on that posting and are we are...
