Possibly the worst plate of food I’ve had in a very long time. Ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs with cheese. Not shown in my photo because I ordered the sausage and gravy on the side which was package gravy as I expected.. but the sausage was so dry and overcooked so badly that it was darkbrown/black crumbles. The “biscuit” which was tiny and smashed flat was completely soaked in grease from the grill which is how they heat them, so that’s exactly what it tasted like. The greasy grill. The eggs were liquid eggs from a carton not fresh as I specifically asked them to be. The female server never returned to check on us, we managed to catch the male server who passed by, and informed us they couldn’t offer any other bread option that wouldn’t be grilled on the grill when i asked for a slice of toast as a replacement. No toaster. I never received the bread anyway. My bf had the barbacoa and it was greasy, and a very small amount. He was also disappointed. I realize that ordering an American breakfast at a Mexican place was going to be a risk. But if they can’t make it as offered and edible they shouldn’t offer it as a menu item at all. At check out we were not asked about our meal and never told thank you. We paid the full amount, and them knowing that we were disappointed and that I only ate 2-3 bites of my meal offered no comments at all. Just rude manners. We won’t be back. As a local who also own a food establishment i understand bad days, mistakes and often miscommunications. But the quality and service was unacceptable.

This is a small Mexican cafe, fairly simple decor. The service is excellent as they seem to have enough servers to take care of their customers without having a long wait. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable! You will never eat Mexican food at a less expensive restaurant. I've never been disappointed in the service or the food. The photo with the yellow cheddar is the tamale, enchilada, rice and beans combination plate. It was $8.50!! The other dish is the chicken enchilada verde (green sauce) with cheese combo. Both tasted great.

When you look at the Google Review Summary at the top of the review section, and the overall consensus that a business is 5 stars, and a very very small amount think otherwise ... you really have to wonder if it's the business that actually deserves the 1 star review, or the people leaving them. I see reviews about how they were rude, unfriendly, and they got sick. I have NEVER experienced rude, unfriendly, or any sort of sickness that I even remotely would have or could have connected to El Rancho as being the root cause of it. The El Rancho Restaurant is clean and inviting, and has a cozy warmth that can be felt before you've even sat down. The dancing aromas wafting throughout the dining area could make you hungry again after having just finished a Thanksgiving dinner. The flavor profiles are spot on, and this is by NO means just your average run of the mill establishment. The staff are friendly, warm, and inviting. Their attention to detail, the food, and the customer is 2nd to none. There are many other places I could go to eat the same type of food and I have tried some others. I was disappointed time and time again. This is where I go to eat now. Fresh ingredients, quality product, cooked to perfection. I continue to recommend El Rancho to friends, family, and even random strangers... and have yet to hear anything other than an overwhelming response of positive feedback. Money well spent at El Rancho. If you are looking for Mexican food that is authentic, and sets the bar high, El Rancho is a hidden gem just waiting for...

Horrible food and even more horrible service. We came in for the first time today and were greeted by non smiling, very stand offish men surrounded by empty tables in desperate need of bussing. Not a single one of the tables were bused the entire 45 minutes we were there. Incidentally, our waiter did not revisit us a single time during that 45 minutes either. His back was to us the entire dining experience and I had to yell across the room to get a to go box for the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. I ordered the Chimichunga which looked really good on the plate however I only ended up eating a small bit of it. It was covered in a cheap flavorless over salted processed cheese sauce, the chicken inside was dry and even more flavorless than the horrible cheese concoction. the rice was overcooked and again...flavorless and the beans tasted straight out of the can with no prep whatsoever. The only thing I did enjoy was the salsa, the chips were obviously the cheap chips you buy in bulk from the big box stores.

I didn't even leave a tip (which I never EVER do, I usually leave at least 20%) because the only thing the waiter did was bring the food to our table with an attitude. I was planning on leaving 2 bucks but when we got our change he only gave us a 5 for an 18$ order. There was no way I was leaving that much for no service.

Bottom line: Horrible experience all around. Bad service with attitude, food took too long and the food was wretched. We...
