We travelled from Reno to Lake Tahoe to do some hiking on June 7, 2019. As we drove in (wearing shorts and t-shirts), we questioned our apparel; the people we saw were wearing puffy jackets and long pants. And when we got out of the car, we understood why. It was cold! I would guess about twelve Celsius (I think about fifty-four Fahrenheit). Our walk around was very short, but the view was lovely. [NB: As you can probably tell, the pictures are not of the beach itself, but were taken about a fifteen minute drive from the beach].

I don't think so, I liked a place more than this in Tahoe city. It's a beach so it's free and I can spend hours here just laying or walking around it. It offers a great view and one of the most cleanest beach that I have been so far. Kids friendly but I don't remember seeing any dogs though. 2 mins away from the beach, they organize Farmer's market every Thursday, which is an added bonus. Not very crowded, you would only see families and very safe vibe. For instance, I left my stuff unattended and found it exactly where I left.

The Penny Bear just above Commons Beach is a MUST SEE while exploring around Lake Tahoe - a huge Bear sculpture that has over 200,000 pennies glued on edge to simulate the bears fur! Who could have imagined that this would even be possible? Also incredible views across the lake, beautiful beaches, great walking paths, free restroom at the top of the stairs on the south end of the FREE public parking lot below the main highway. Just a great place to spend some time! Even a great playground for the kids!

We have been coming to this park for years, it is so beautiful nestled under these enormous trees. Has a beautiful view of the lake in a large grassy area for picnics and umbrellas. There are nice bathroom facilities and drinking fountains. These pictures were taken in September, the lake is very low seeing as how we are in need of rain. Just up the little hill is Tahoe city with lots of restaurants and shops. Has a nice parking lot off of the main road in Tahoe city.

There were quite a few people there... The grassy and pebble sandy areas were nice. Great to be able to rent SUPs and kayaks right there. Public restrooms are right there and nice. There's a bike/walking trail there and lots of shops and restaurants as well as a marina nearby. We sat on the beach for a bit and then walked a short distance along the bike trail and sat in a shady spot on rocks by the water for a cooler picnic lunch.

Summer is most fun for Trail access but when it’s snowy it is so beautiful!! Second week of January gave us full snow weeks, shoreline covered in snow, and enough of a walkable sidewalk to enjoy a leisurely walk along for views. A bit dicey in Some places, but an overall nice peek / view over the lake at lake level. Walk to the south for the bridge for a little peek at the history of Truckee River and Lake Tahoe !
