Is it pricey for what it is? Sure it is. If I wanted to raft and was with only adult friends, I would most certainly use the bus to park my car down river and buy my own raft. No question about it. But if you’re with your family, have kids, on vacation and don’t want to hassle with the logistics of rafting, then this is by all means a great excursion. It’s a fun trip down a slow moving river. You can stop and take as long as you like wherever you like, provided you make it to the end by the last bus. We stopped many times. We raced other rafters at times. We swam at the many deep spots along the way. I would suggest that you take provisions with you if you plan to stop along the river. Food/snacks/drinks for various ages. When we went, there were several large groups of friendly people partying along the river with music, drinks, beach balls, etc. It was a great experience and my kids had a fantastic time. When it was all done, we easily jumped on the bus and we were back at our van in 10 minutes. No fuss, no hassles; we couldn’t be happier. All the staff, from start to finish, were perfect, extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend this adventure to any families traveling through the...

The scene is straight out of a postcard rustic wooden lodges set against towering pine forests, crystal-clear turquoise water winding gently downstream, and the joyful echo of laughter from groups drifting leisurely on rafts and tubes. This stretch of the river, starting near Tahoe City and flowing toward the River Ranch Lodge, perfectly blends nature’s tranquility with a lively social atmosphere. The water is freshly cool & ideal for hot summers & the flow is calm enough families and first-timers while still keeping things exciting. Many visitors stop mid-float to swim, sunbathe, or simply take in the mountain air. The surrounding lodges and restaurants, such as the River Ranch, make the experience even more memorable. offering patio dining right by the rapids where you can enjoy a hearty meal or a drink while watching others float by. Read moreMY FAVORITE TAHOE ACTIVITY.
Seriously, look at these reviews, they speak for themselves. 5-star after 5-star when they really deserve 6.
Visited Tahoe for the first time the second week of July and on the recommendation of a co-worker decided to raft the Truckee River. WOW. It was our favorite activity from the entire trip.
TIP (and this has nothing to do with the business) but if you are new to Tahoe, please factor in the amount of time it takes to get from one area to another. Tahoe is MASSIVE, nearly 70 miles shore to shore. We stayed in South Lake Tahoe near the casinos and didn't factor in the amount of time it would take to get to the West Shore where Truckee is.
Casually strolling out of the hotel at 9AM when we have reservations at 930AM #omgembarrassing !! (It took an hour and 15 minutes to reach the destination! SILLY US.) Anyway, the staff were more than accommodating and even parked our car for us. Great service. Everyone was friendly, and it was super cheap. They even let you bring your dogs along and my sweet baby had the time of his life!
Pack a cooler and a lunch and have a picnic along the way. I PROMISE you wont be...
