Feel like we were double charged. We stayed here two years in a row in the summer. The first time, we were charged the amount we were quoted over the phone, but this summer, we were quoted $119/night over the phone by the owner- the same she charged us per night the previous year- but then we were charged $233.19 after taxes per night! I thought they charged both our cards for the entire two night stay by mistake! I called and spoke to Kathleen, who was very sweet, and said she would have to ask the owner. I didn’t hear back after a week, so called again and got the owner this time, who was rude, completely unprofessional, and insisted she never charges $119 for a room, and there would be no adjustment. Too bad there was no proof of the price I was quoted over the phone. It is a beautiful location, but I think $119/night is more than fair for a room with one bed, especially considering the coffee pot in the room didn’t work, and there is no breakfast. Probably should remove “free gourmet breakfast” from the description. We have stayed at fancier, more well-kept hotels for $120/night, and certainly would not have stayed here if I had known beforehand what they were really going to charge us. Regretfully, we will not stay at the Whispering Pines again after...
Read moreOur stay was excellent. We had hoped to have reservations elsewhere but there was a mistake with the dates; which was great for us. Jesus always work things out for our good. Never received such hospitality like we received at”Whispering Pines Lodge.” We were settled in so quickly, we forgot about our disappointment, after driving from Fresno, California . Our son was invited to have coffee from the office, each morning. We were able to barbecue , and all utensils were available. The swimming pool a plus; up to 40 people capacity . The other quests were very kind . Pool floats and toys were available in abundance . Ms Louise, the owner went above and beyond. For several days we saw deers and twice, very early in the morning, we saw a skunk. The family also walked down to the Kern River, adjunct to the lodge. We had plenty of towels. Plenty of soap. The family enjoyed the personal touch from the lodge; sharing of the lodges background and history; the album was above the fireplace . Several mornings we sat on the front porch, enjoying the view and watching the squirrels. Every evening, minus 1 night, we had dinner on the balcony/patio. We were there July 23 thru July 31,2021. We were 3 adults and 1 eight years old...
Read moreI am not sure how the reviews are so good for this place my experience was horrible. I booked through hotel.com and when I arrived a few hours later I was told she didn’t know I was coming because hotel.com didn’t call her before booking. Does she even get how websites work? I called hotels.com and they attempted to speak to her about putting me in the only room she had left that she told me she would charge 150$ more than my booked price. She yelled at the agent hung up on them then put her phones off the hook. I had no choice but to accept the inflated price because there were no other hotels available in the area. My husband and I were there to spend our anniversary together. She was so unprofessional and seemed to use the fact that we came from out of town to inflate the price and put us in a room that was outdated. They didn’t even clean the room on our second day the floor didn’t look as it was ever vacuumed the patio never cleaned. I don’t recommend this hotel! According to the agent at the booking site they are removing the hotel from their suite for being...
