Nice, quiet, clean, safe, green. Plenty of shade in the park and even around it at most time of days. It is in a decent neighborhood and near the 605 freeway and valley boulevard. Which is a pretty busy intersection with tons of traffic. But you can not even tell when you are at the park. There are plenty of kids playing, i love to hear their laughter. And a good, clean, always- stocked bathroom. They offer self-defense classes for adults and children, in the spring and summer i think. They offer well advertised events. The parking lot is small but abundant parking available in the streets immediately surrounding the park, which are wide enough that you are not on top of the neighbors lawns. No matter how hot the day is, their always seems to be a cool breeze coming through. Fellow visitors are friendly enough without being nosey. I have never experienced any trouble or drama and have always found it to be peaceful and a relaxing place to get away for a bit without having to drive for hours, right in the middle of the bustling city. Read moreI attended the grand opening in 1972 when I was in 1st grade attending Keenan Elementary. I'll never forget seeing the bulldozers destroy all the homes along San Angelo and not be able to comprehend why they were doing it. The park began to take shape, and then the giant robot appeared, we were expecting a rocket like Leg Lake. What a time to be a kid! And then, before we knew it, the robots head started smelling like piss. Long story short now, the whole park smells like piss. End of story....
