I'm assuming this site on the almighty Google also includes the nearby playground... Thoroughly enjoyed the quick stop for some running time on the way home. I had been here many years ago and I remember the cool shade structure but not the playground. Playground is super cool, BTW - lighthouse slides and ship-themed section! Beautiful waterfowl sculpture. There was some live music and it looked like maybe they were getting ready for a Fri night event? Or maybe there just weren't that many people attending! Know you can't swim in the sculpture pool and one sign is on the edge of the sidewalk near a "path" down to the river but there was one person swimming in the river. Building restrooms locked which was kinda surprising since there did seem to be the event going on but it was after hours for the visitors center.

This is the place to go if you want to know all about Dorchester County! Stopped by in hopes of picking up a few brochures, but left with a great experience. I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff member who, not only supplied me with a variety of brochures, but also talked to me about many amazing things to see and do in the county. The center has exhibits as well that feature information on local figures and history. You can tell the people who run this center love their county! If you're looking to visit the area, I recommend stopping here for sure!

Awesome place to get your toes wet or a dip for the little ones. They created a dipping area where the water is calm! The staff at the visitor center are first class. It's not a huge place, but plan to spend 1-3 hours to relax.

I had a disappointing visit on Friday. I stop her anytime I go through Cambridge on Route 50. I had not been here in several years and was taken aback by the changes. It had a neglected 'feel' to it. The rest rooms were locked. One had to get a key from another building to use them (this was not the case in the past) and they were plastered with well worn stickers about reporting human trafficking. I asked about the bike path along the river - curious as to the length. The woman working said, "it goes from there to there" while pointing ito something / nothing in front of her and behind her. I then asked about kayaking in the area and she said, "once a week they do it out there" (while pointing to something / nothing in front of her). I asked about a brochure and she stated, "if you didn't see one they must be gone." Okay then. The view of the water...

Once you cross the bridge over the Choptank River into Cambridge, the Visitors Center, directly on the right hand side of Rt. 50, welcomes you to the Heart of the Chesapeake. It is an amazing center, far different from the normal welcome centers. The vistas are outstanding and you can also watch a movie about all the things that Dorchester County has to offer while visiting. There are tons of free brochures and even a video about the area that you can purchase. Next to the center is a beach/park and waterfront boardwalk where you walk or relax and watch the passing boats go by. I give this 5 stars because it...
