I stopped by for the first time yesterday and was instantly impressed. This place is gorgeous! Clean, beautifully laid out, and stocked with top-quality seafood. I picked up some swordfish and scallops. At first, I thought the prices were a bit steep, and while the staff told me the scallops were sashimi-grade, I wasnāt entirely convinced⦠but figured Iād give them a shot. Let me tell you, the moment I got home, I knew I had stumbled upon something special. No smell. Not from the scallops, not from the swordfish ā just pure, fresh ocean goodness. Then I tasted the scallops raw⦠and WOW. Hands down, the best Iāve ever had. Sweet, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection. I pan-seared both the scallops and swordfish and still couldnāt believe it. My house didnāt smell like fish at all! I even left and came back in just to double check because I was in shock š. The quality here is unmatched. This is, without a doubt, the freshest, cleanest seafood Iāve had in the area. Safe to say Iāll be a regular. Iām already planning my next trip back! 10/10 ā...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNew Deal fish market is the REAL DEAL. My grandmother used to bring me here after going to Haymarket (if you dont know...google it). It was part of the routine of getting fresh food for the week. That was about 40 years ago. Now, I bring my sons for the best and freshest fish out of the water. They go to the dock 2x's a day to get the variety and fresh fish that they are known for. Carl and the crew have maintained the best customer service throughout the years. They know their fish, where it came from, and how to cook it. Don't be afraid to experiment there is a recipie waiting for you! New Deal always has great fish, and their fresh sardines are delicious. FYI, you will often hear Carl taking bulk orders for local restaurants....it's that good- that is why you gotta go early, especially on the weekends or holiday seasons. Yup, if you can't get it straight from the ocean, get it from New Deal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was making a bouillabaisse as a gift for my mother's birthday and I needed fish bones and parts to make a stock. Bouillabaisse is virtually 100% based on how good the soup bar is, so this is crucial. I live south of Boston and after calling a dozen fresh fish markets, this was the only place I could get what I needed. Why? Apparently no one cuts their own fish anymore. I had to drive nearly an hour to find a place that cuts their own fish.. What the...
Anyways.. They have a great selection of seafood that changes all the time. I called ahead and was able to get several varieties ready to be picked up the next day. It took me 3 days to make the stock and I had no idea how it would turn out. When we all ate it, everyone was floored and agreed the broth was the key.
So if you want a place that really does fish, this is one of the few left. Fortunately...
