The ānot so sweet beanā Cafe! I used to go into this cute spot with my toddler after her play dates and everyone was always so nice. So I had no hesitation in choosing this restaurant when my girlfriends wanted to have a ladies brunch for my birthday. None of them had been there before and I kept raving about how cute it was and how great the food was. My mom also passed away a few weeks ago so I was feeling down, but they all convinced me to come out and spend time together. When I arrived , one of my friends was already waiting with her baby inside, and she looked frazzled. I didnāt realize that the hostess had been rude to her about saving the table for the rest of us who are only running about five or 10 minutes behind because the parking lot is so crowded and it takes time to find a spot. When my other friend arrived with her baby, The hostess didnāt even say hi-she just looked at her annoyed and asked her to take her stroller back to the car! We sat down and ordered some drinks, and then one of the babies started crying a little bit. A waitress literally came over and said āthe manager is not gonna tolerate that.ā Of course we had to get up and leave. We werenāt gonna let my one friend leave because her baby was crying so we had to go next door to first watch. I canāt even describe the level of unprofessionalism that everyone who worked there today had with us! getting treated like youāre a criminal because you have a sweet baby with you. And anyone who has agrees with this type of treatment is gross. I have to tell you! I was so embarrassed because that place was my idea and I had never had a bad experience there before. I hate to have to leave these type of reviews because I understand that this is someoneās livelihood, but this is unacceptable and itās discriminatory! We never really have any opportunity to go out and eat anything and when we do this is how we get treated. Iām honestly so disgusted. I have the sweetest and kindest group of friends too and I felt terrible that they were treated like losers from the moment they walked through the door. I also had my baby with me by the way and sheās only nine months old but I think I deserve to have a nice brunch too sometimes. I didnāt realize that having a baby with you means you get treated like a criminal. literally, like itās a crime to have a baby with you! Thatās how it felt I didnāt realize all this time that there was a sign on the door basically telling people that theyāre not kid friendly, but they need to put that on posterboard and make it a lot bigger because itās easy to miss! I would have never suggested that place if I wouldāve seen anything like that. Long story short⦠Do not go to this restaurant if you have small...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI normally do not do a review when we go out for breakfast, but, here we go. We knew we had to go to Cypress Lake Drive this morning, & figured we'd eat while there. (We live in LaBelle). We googled restaurants in the area & started checking menu's & reviews. (Mainly menus.) Came across this place. They had a little bit traditional, (biscuits and gravy), as well as not-so-old-fashioned, (quiche, etc). Mostly good reviews, except for a couple of obvious "Karen's". Prices didn't seem too bad either. Then we noticed the owner response to the Karen's. This person actually stood up for themselves, (ok, their restaurant). They called out OBVIOUS ignorance, used sarcasm, & stated "in your face facts". No mamby pamby placation here. WOW. This was our new destination, (the original one now was just an obstacle to get here.) We arrived & at first, we're not sure what to think, as the waitress working the outside wasn't very polite as she made her way to the door with drinks going out. Then, the hostess showed us to our table, & things immediately turned around. (Side note, we did NOT snitch out the gal doing her job; just commented to ourselves on how she could have been more polite.) The restaurant has a dark, calming lighting to it. The waitstaff are all in black, ( I think it might be standard in most "trying to be upward " restaurants, & not bad to see.) Loved the beautiful photos of lightening on the walls. The was a chandelier near where we sat that was gawdy as hell, but, it worked. Our waiter was prompt, courteous, & professional. He welcomed us, asked if it was our first time, & explained the coffee station to us. I'm not much for coffee, but gave it a shot. (#1. Dark chocolate with cream & sugar. #2. Very good.) Food was quick to come out, & delicious! Their jalapeno cornbread was good enough to buy an extra LOAF for our next chili dinner. All around, it was a VERY pleasant experience, & I would heartily...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot at all what I expected, in the worst way. Saw it while driving by and thought it would be a cute place to stop while we were staying in the area, and when we walked in we thought we went in the wrong door. When a place is advertised as āsweet bean cafeā you would expect pastries and lattes, NOT cold drip coffee and over priced brunch specials. My boyfriend and I walked in and were greeted at the door, but the hostess seemed confused as to why we only wanted coffee. We were directed to another counter, and the server (barista??) was impatient with us. I looked around for a latte menu and quickly realized they didnāt even have an espresso machine! The only coffee option was from carafes, all of which were low and sitting there for who knows how long. I got their only iced coffee, which just tasted like sweet cinnamon milk, while my boyfriend got a cup of their ādripā coffee, which went cold before we even got up the street. I mean come on, if youāre going to be a coffee shop at least brew it fresh! Pour over or something at least! Felt like the jars of beans they had on the counter were just for show. Atmosphere was also weird, very quiet and dark. Worst $10 on coffee Iāve ever spent. Would not recommend to anyone expecting a nice experience. Also probably not a good idea to go somewhere where the owner only rebuttals and denies bad reviews! Get with the program, no one wants to go to a ācoffee cafeā that doesnāt even...
