A Swedish Affair — Local services in Cape Coral

This shop is so sweet. It reminds me of quaint shops you might see on a driving trip through a small town square somewhere in the Midwest.

If you have any Nordic heritage at all this is your shop for things from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and possibly other places that I missed. It's not large, but it's chok-full-o Swedish stuff. There's cutesy things as well as stunning glass artwork. All the prices are reasonable. My 6 year old son insisted that I purchase a "Anglaspel" (rotary candle holder) and my daughter loved the Dahl horse items. There are also traditional Swedish preserved foods, too. This will be my place to come back and get some beautiful Christmas decorations. They have many in the store. The owner was at the store when I was there. He was very kind and helpful.

Overall, go find a reason to support this local Fort Myers business that's been here for many years. There's bound to be something Swedish you need to have in your life even if it's just a small trinket or jar of jam or a Pippi Longstocking book.

Mom Considerations: there was not an obvious restroom in this mall, so if you're shopping with children, I would make a stop somewhere prior to coming. Otherwise you may just need to ask the shop owner...

A Swedish Affair is a hidden gem in Royal Palm Square. The owners were not only extremely helpful in meeting our needs but apparently, when I was shopping, I became dehydrated and they quickly got me a water. While they have a wonderful variety of merchandise from home decor to kitchen items to food to jewelry, my favorites are the unique wood trivets and the Swedish dishwashing sponge...fantastic! You have to try...

I called this morning wondering about sill. Asked first in Swedish if they had any and received an hesitant yes. Trying to be polite I asked again in English. If they sold Pickled herring. The man then raised his voice to me and said in an very impolite voice that thats what I said, aren't you listening?

Well to say the least I bought our pickled herring elsewhere....
