Carlisle events (car shows) are always good. Lots of cars in the show fields, and usually some special vehicles in the few buildings, and lots of attendees. I'm deducting a couple stars because the bathrooms are too few and too far apart. Considering the number of attendees, and the size of the area, there need to be a lot more bathrooms. Bathrooms should not be an afterthought for an event space. And it shouldn't be similar to a third-world environment. Yes we know that other fairgrounds don't have great bathroom facilities either, but we expect better from Carlisle. Additionally, there are multiple entrances, and attendees typically enter whatever entrance is closest to where they parked (which is usually in some private yard area across the street from the fairgrounds), and when thinking of leaving the fairgrounds after many hours at a show, the attendees then need to find their way back to the entrance gate that they entered from (or an adjacent one). The Carlisle fairgrounds could have more signage to help show attendees where each entrance gate is. I had multiple people ask me questions about where their entrance gate is. The problem is that if you don't have the booklet you received when you entered, or you don't look it up on your phone, there are no map stands and no signage that point you in the right direction (at least none that I saw). Luckily for me I took note of what I saw when I entered the fairgrounds at Gate #3, and remembered things inside the fairgrounds as I walked from Gate 3 further into the fairgrounds, so I would have an easier time finding that area when I planned to exit. I think there are lots of large fairground type areas (such as zoos) that do a much better job at having signage to point visitors in the right directions. At Carlisle, it seems you have to wander aimlessly unless you keep the paper map with you, but even that can be confusing. Message to Carlisle Events: Why not have posts with signage, like...
Read moreWe go to most of the car shows held at Carlisle, this one just happened to be the ALL FORD NATIONALS. The fairgrounds is very large, very full of hills, with the Grandstand in the center. Parking is always difficult. They don't have their own parking, so most of the neighboring homes or the Carlisle Firehouse charge $5-10 to park if you can't find street space. What is bothersome is that handicapped parking doesn't exist here. If you have bad joints or other health issues, the fairgrounds rents scooters for a moderate price or bring your own, they just need to approve it. There are also plenty of places for camper and trailer parking, in yards or on the west side of the grounds. Plenty of concession stands, clean bathrooms, vendors of all sorts, demo rides/cars, a car parade; literally something for everyone. Also, they usually have a beer garden sponsored by one of...
Read moreCarlisle has some of the best car shows and fle markets around. People come from all over the country to attend some of there shows. Throughout the year they have Truck shows, Corvette shows, Ford shows, Gm shows and of course the largest show of all the Mopar show. You can buy cars, parts, merchandise, memorabilia and just about any thing else you might want or need. Besides all the shows and venders they have a spring and fall fle market that covers the entire 83 acres you can find anything but be prepared to do a lot of walking. If you want to cover the entire fle market you could walk as much as 15 miles up and down every isle. Oh yeah bring a hat or something. There is a grand stands to sit and rest that is covered but other then that there is no shade anywhere else on the field. You can find most of the info you need on line at...
