Bame Ace Hardware — Attraction in Carolina Beach

I love this store. If you're like me & try to leave the island as seldom as possible, this is the place to go for just about anything but groceries. Careful though, if you have a sunglass addiction, they'll have you shucking out the dough before you ever realize you're doing it. Really though, the salesman was really quite helpful & blatantly honest. They have the biggest selection of Costas that you will find this side of the Mississippi, & I was an optician for 20 yrs, still have never seen that many (p.s. they are worth every penny but, if you're gonna get them & you can wear the glass lenses, go w/glass over plastic/polycarbonate. It's a world of difference, thats my professional opinion). All the sales people are so helpful & friendly, or either really good at faking it, either way, its a pleasant exchange every time. FANTASTIC SHOP! Ace is known for having some of the friendliest staff but the guys here are on another level! They offer personalized service, listen, make suggestions, and make it a point to get to know you. They have the largest sunglass selection in the area (Maui Jim, Costa, Zeal, Persol, Ray Ban, Smith), go deep in all of their collections, and have a lot of custom sunglasses they configured. I love this hardware store! If you need it, most likely they will have it. I have found things here that Lowes and Home Depot don't have. Plus I like doing business with local stores here on the island when possible. The atmosphere is usually very friendly except for one of the older fellows. He seems like he is always in a bad mood and doesn't greet you or even say hi. But just say your best hello to him and enjoy this wonderful hardware store. Everyone else is friendly and helpful.
