Rivoli Theatre — Attraction in Cedarburg

Absolutely wonderful place to see a movie. And affordable enough to go frequently. I’ve been taking family members here since moving near the area over a decade ago. Ticket, popcorn, soda and candy prices are incredibly reasonable. When all the kids were little, sometimes we’d bring a friend or two of theirs as well and would be able to treat everyone, even when times were tight. Seats have drink holders and are comfortable. Parking is on the street. I often think I won’t find a spot nearby, but it always works out.

We went this past Wednesday night during COVID. They were showing Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein. There were quite a few people there, all doing their social distancing thing in alternate rows, keeping good distance from others, all just enjoying a Halloween classic. The Rivoli does not really need a review, because all of us locals know what a gem it is. Where can you go to a great movie in a beautifully renovated theatre for $3.50? Buy your guest the $4 candy, soda and popcorn and date night will set you back a whopping $11! The Rivoli is staffed by our local citizens who share their joy of the whole experience. The movies are selected by a manager who really knows his guests. His timing is often perfect as he brought in the Oscar winning The Green Book for us to view for the 2 weeks before the awards. The Rivoli Theater in Cedarburg is a quaint, locally owned and operated, single screen theater reminiscent of a bygone era. The impressive marquee must be seen at night. The box office is still street-side although tickets are sold in the lobby during inclement weather. The theater is retro-style ramp with a stage and curtins. The seats have been upgraded but, the ambiance still takes you back to your childhood...for the 50 and over generations. The Rivoli is a must experience for locals and tourists alike.
