Is this a one-star restaurant? No. Did I have a one-star experience? Yes.
This place has live music on Friday and Saturday, which a lot of people seem to enjoy. But, the volume was too loud. Not crazy loud; I measured 90 decibels. But too loud to have a conversation with your dinner companions. In our case, we were having a 70th birthday dinner, and conversation was impossible without shouting or constantly having to repeat yourself.
The band was fine, and the music would have been perfectly enjoyable at a lower volume. But, it was too loud for dinner music. I mentioned it to the server, she said they would ask the band to turn it down. Later, the manager or owner (I assume) came by and asked how everything was. I said the music was too loud, she said they had asked the band to turn it down, and that was the end of the interaction.
At no point were we offered a table inside, but It didn't look like they could have accommodated us in there anyway.
As I said, a lot of people seemed to like the music, but they would have liked it just as well as a lower volume. This band acted like they were giving a concert instead of playing dinner music.
It's a risk, as a restaurant owner, to have live music. If you're not willing to tell the band to turn it down, then you're accepting that some of your customers will have their dinners ruined. If you're trying to create a concert atmosphere, fine, but make sure you mention loud live music when people are making reservations. As far as I know, that did not happen in our case.
So, if you're considering trying this place, and you want to be able to actually talk with the people you're dining with, avoid Fridays and Saturdays or ask for a table inside.
But, I wouldn't recommend it. For me, the food was OK, but the service was below average (server spilled a whole drink on her tray, my wife never got the wine she ordered, the wrong drink was brought to the table, and I had to ask for water for the table). Maybe the server couldn't hear either...? There was also some mention by the server of a desert for our guest of honor (birthday girl) that was never followed up. You can do better...
Read moreI have been here a few times and won’t be returning ever again. The few times that I have been there we have attempted to order drinks at the bar and the staff was unfriendly and not attentive, to the point the bartender asked us to go down to the other side of the bar to get the drink he had just poured (the bar wasn’t busy) I thought this was totally a bazaar request considering we were there to be served. Last night my friends and I walked into the bar and sat down and after 10min of totally being ignored was I was very rudely told and singled out by the bartender that she didn’t want to serve me specifically and literally pointed me out in front of the entire bar. Not only was this totally uncalled for as It was embarrassing to be spoked about like this in front of other patrons, it was completely uncalled for as I had done nothing but sit there politely conversing with my friends. It is the restaurants right to refuse service to someone and i respect that but this was not warranted and handled in a confrontational matter and I’m not sure why. We had our names in for a table and after they decided to serve us a round of drinks they conveniently left out that they weren’t going to serve us for the rest of the evening putting it on our very young server to relay the information which was unfair to put her in the situation. They could have just been upfront when they sat us. I have never been refused service anyplace EVER and am a very respectful person. If I was out of line it would honestly be a first. I never write bad reviews being a previous small business owner but I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt a few times now and this was the last time. There are amazing places to eat around town and will be taking my money and...
