I’m really not sure how to write this review because when we first went in, all I was thinking was I could not wait to write Aaland a raving review... Which the first part is true - when I setup an appointment, I immediately got an email back from Cullen asking more about why we were coming in (a major plus because I also scheduled an appointment with another jeweler in the area and I had horrible communication prior to our appointment with them). I explained to Cullen my fiancé wanted me to be part of the engagement ring shopping experience because he knew I had a ring from my father that passed away when I was 8 that I wanted to incorporate into my ring.
We showed up to our appointment early and explained to Rhonda that we had an appointment with Cullen. She said he was still at lunch but she could get us started with our search. I found 2 rings that I loved and we decided to incorporate them into my final ring (no pressure, super helpful, and they told me it would be easy to make). I also triple checked they were using the proper 2 rings because I had a gut feeling it was going to be wrong (and I was right). At that point, we decided to cancel our appointment at the other jewelry store and go with Aaland.
At the time, they said our ring would take 2.5-3 weeks since there was only 2 rings ahead of ours. We got a call on the 2.5 week mark and said that the ring wasn’t ready because it didn’t pass the inspection due to a pit in the ring and they said it would be another 2-3 days and I really appreciated their honesty. Well, day 3 came an no call so my fiancé went to the store... he said Rhonda was apologetic and he was “on her list to call” but when they recasted the ring they used the wrong metal - (which was confusing to me because they were supposed to be using the gold from my dad’s ring so I’m not sure how that got confused between the first and second casting). Due to the second mistake, they added another 4 days (2 weekend days and 2 working days) to the wait time. At that point, we were pushing close to Christmas and my fiancé wanted to ask my mom for permission to ask me so we had asked Aaland if they could provide us a drawing, which they did. However, it was sent to my fiancé at work so he did just a quick glance at the drawing. Surprisingly, this was the first time we were provided any sort of drawing and never had to confirm it before the first cast.
Well, when my fiancé finally got the ring and proposed, I immediately noticed it was NOT the band style we had picked out - even after I confirmed it multiple times in the store because there were 2 rings on the stand and I wanted to make sure they had put down the right one. I even took a photo of the band the day we purchased the ring. In addition to the wrong band, I noticed the appraisal was not written properly (my ring has 28 diamonds and a center stone and this accounted for 24 and a center stone). We also purchased the insurance that said came with ring cleaner that we did not receive.
So back to the store we went. At that point, my fiancé and I decided not to have the ring remade because overall it is a beautiful ring - even if it wasn’t what I originally wanted. I won’t lie and will say I am little bummed as the band that was cast does not highlight the diamonds from my dads ring as much as I think the one we picked out would have. When we got back to the store, I was a little shocked that they were not more apologetic when we told them the used the wrong band even after I confirmed multiple times with Rhonda that she wrote down the correct band (but obviously, she didn’t). They also said the ring cleaner was on backorder so they gave me a polishing cloth and rewrote the appraisal since it was wrong.
In a nutshell, I just wanted to give a honest review of our experience. Did we get a beautiful ring - yes. Did we get what we ordered - no. Would I recommend to a friend or go back for our wedding bands and additional piece I wanted - I’m still...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience with Wulf to design a custom engagement ring for my future fiancée. I came in on a Saturday in February and Sarah helped me bring the ideas in my head out into the real world. She was very thorough in her questions - asking not only about ring specifications like size, metal, and the gem(s), but also asked more personalized questions about my girlfriend and I to determine certain stylistic choices about the ring. She listened to every question I had and educated me on some of the basics of ring design so I had the ability to make the right choices.
Following that, I worked with Cullen over email for around two months as the renderings for the ring came in, and he was just as great to work with. His responses were quick and he answered all of my questions, and after a few design changes, we settled on the one that looked just right. Cullen even had the ring recasted a second time, since he felt the first cast didn’t quite live up to the vision we’d designed. I picked up the ring yesterday evening and couldn’t be happier with the final product.
On top of that, the prices were very fair considering the materials and length of time to create the design and make the ring. We will 100% be returning for future jewelry purchases, and I’d happily recommend anyone who has a jewelry need to go to Wulf. You won’t regret it!
Thank you,...
Read moreI had gotten my ring dipped at another location, and wasn't happy with it. I came to AaLand on a recommendation, and am sooooo thrilled! They made me feel like my ring was the most important there, did exactly what they said they would do, and quite a bit cheaper than the estimate. The customer service was outstanding! I will be taking my jewelry there for service, and will be going there for future purchases. Best around! Thank you for making me feel like I walked out with the crown jewels! :-)
4/23/18 - So, took my grandmother's anniversary ring in. They did so well with my wedding ring, I completely trusted them to handle my grandmother's as well. It was never something I would have picked, but because it was her pride and joy and was given to me, I wanted to make sure it was taken care of. Cullen explained how this ring was crafted, explained how it was a labor of love and intricately made by hand, stone by stone, and how each diamond was individually set. They repaired all the damage, sized it for me, and then dipped it from yellow to white. Hearing the background of it, and what they did to it, I love it even more than ever, and I think my grandmother would be proud. AaLand Jewelers...
