NEVER fix anything at this place!!! IT IS HORRIBLE!!! If you have extra money, would like to spend a loooong time without laptop, and would like to create more issues to your laptop, then this is the place.
It took a looooooong time to fix and experienced multiple unexplained issues. The place does not explain anything unless you call or even go to the office to ask for update. It fixed the original issue but caused other issue!!!
Here is what happened. Put it in short: Before ubreakifix, only battery issue with my laptop In ubreakifix, no update unless you ask, long time drop in back room, multiple order of batteries, potential hardware issues. After ubreakifix, old battery issue partial fixed, a new battery issue created and a new usb-c issue created.
Here are details: Day 1: I went to there place for battery replacement. My laptop works fine (display, monitor, usb/usb-c port, etc.). The only thing is the battery expanded. The agent asked me to drop my laptop there and told me that it would take 2-3 days for shipping and then just replace it. Day 3: I called for update on shipping. They told me no delivery. Day 4: I called again for update. They told me might be the last me that day or first thing next day. But no delivery yet. Day 5: I called again for update. They told me that they ordered a WRONG model. so they need to order a new one. So till now, My laptop was dropped at there place for NOTHING!! Day 8: I called for update on new shipping. They told me no delivery. Day 9: I called for update on new shipping. They told me that they got the new battery but it doesn't work. What is super ridiculous is that they told me that they thought the new battery is all right but it is my laptop itself that have something wrong (maybe motherboard or other hardware) and cause the new battery doesn't work and not charging!!! It's unacceptable!! I brought them a laptop that works. And after a week at their location, it no longer work, even cannot turn on. So I told them that the explanation is not acceptable. They need to explain more. The tech said it was complicated and need more test. Day 10: I called again to see if there is any more test done. They told me yes and they think it is the new battery issue. And they ordered a new one. Day 12: I called again to see if there is any update on the new battery delivery. They told me it would take 3-4 days for shipping. Day 16: I called again to check on delivery. They told me that it would take another 6 days of shipping! Day 22: I called again to check on delivery. They told me that no delivery yet. But it should be the first thing next day. Day 23: FINALLY, it is ubreakifix called me and told me that the battery is replaced and it's ready to go. Day 24: it is the first day after I got my laptop back. I found out that one of my usb-c port doesn't work well. However, it doesn't have much impact. Before ubreakifix, both usb-c port can be used for charging and connecting to monitor. After ubreakifix, one usb-c can be used for charging and monitor, the other usb-c can only be used for chargining but not monitor. Now, it has been 2 weeks since I got my laptop back. Both usb-c ports cannot be used for monitor. Moreover, when I check the computer center, it said that no battery detected!! In addition, the back panel still cannot be fully assembled to the laptop. I really don't know what happened in ubreakifix. They never operate my laptop in front of me. Even, when there is a outlet on the front desk, they choose to go to all the way back to plug...
Read moreI had an appointment for Friday at noon, dropped my phone off, they made one single call to confirm it was okay to replace the back screen too as it was also cracked and they wouldnt be able to put it back on if it was taken off. Sure, no problem. No further updates. After about four hours of them having my phone, when they pride themselves on two, we still hadnt heard anything so we called again. They said it was taking longer than expected as they had to remove the back manually but they would call us at noon on Saturday. No call. I spoke with corporate and they had said the hold up was missing the parts but they would call me later Saturday to come pick it up (I didnt get these emails until Sunday morning as I havent had a phone in three days and can only access my email while on my desktop). We called around 2pm Saturday and they said they had someone running to another shop to grab the parts and they would work on it in about half an hour and should be done by close. Again, at this point they had had my phone for over a day and never mentioned not having the parts or that there would be any delay due to this. No call Saturday. Called at opening Sunday, today, and they said its all done they just need the passcode to unlock it and run diagnostics, they went to take it down and realized it was already written down from check-in. So we asked if we could come get it and they said yeah to come get it before 5. We came in to get it and we walk in and they say its not done we have to charge it and run diagnostics, and that they would start it now - AFTER telling us to come in and it was ready about an hour ago at this point. So we are chilling outside as we had to drive 30 minutes to get here and cant afford to go home and do it all again today in the next three hours before close. We had 0 communication throughout this whole process that we didnt have to initiate ourselves by calling in, despite them having it for THREE days for a phone screen repair that is expected to take 2-3 hours. no updates, no explanations. I cant believe they are listed as a certified repair on Samsungs site, and I am spending nearly $450 dollars to get it fixed and it took 2.5 full business days with no explanation as to why given to us at the time. Never again, I would trust a mall kiosk more than I ever would this establishment again.I tried to do it the right way and get it done via Samsung’s recommendation just in case something went wrong but this was a complete wreck. “Professionals”?...
Read moreThey told me i needed new thermal paste for my xbox. $150. When I go in to pick it up they sold me on a subscription promo for asurion to lower my cost to $100 (suppsoedly a cleaning is 100 but the promo lowered it to 70 with the home+ sub being 30). They rung it up as a cleaning. Games still crashing. Opened it up with a friend and seen they didn't even change the paste. They cleaned it, sold me a sub for their quota knowing if it still crashes it'll be covered and lied about prices to make me think i was getting a favor. When I called and asked them what's up they swore they did it, said they tested it on 1 game and couldn't get the games that were crashing on me to play on their tv "because I had 120 fps settings on for the game and xbox" which is a lie it was never set that way. Then they said maybe it's the fan or the board, all things that should've been checked during diagnostics especially something as simple as the fan. Caught them on multiple lies and then when I asked for managers or regional managers contact info they hung up on me. They're asurion salesmen first and foremost and repairs guys second. Don't fall for their scam like I did.
Edit: after talking to other UBIF stores I can confirm this is unfortunately common practice at some franchisee locations. They're salesmen incentivized to sell home+ subs and to only doing cleanings and they only do real repairs after a subscription is sold. Not only that i found out from other stores that a cleaning and thermal paste are all one service. So not only did they not diagnose my xbox, they didnt even do the full clean job they were supposed to and just lied about the 150 for thermal paste. Don't go here.
They still won't give me contact info for manager or regional manager, and corporate customer service is obviously outsourced and...
