I'm sad to write this review as I have had a wonderful relationship and experience with this location and chain (I've been an UC customer in three different states for over 8 years now), but I feel like the lack of follow through and inconsistent enforcement of policies has led me to write this review.
I have purchased and sold my clothing items here numerous times. I often would drop off my items on a Sunday and come back on the day I was notified the buy was complete, OR I would ask and confirm ahead of time if I could come back later in the week, as I live over 40 minutes away. I was ALWAYS told some iteration of, "Yes, that day is fine, we will keep your items here, no worries". This last time I was even told "Oh yeah, we have clothes that we've been holding here for over two weeks. Your items will be here. Thursday is fine".
I came that Thursday as already agreed upon, and my buy was complete. However, the remainder of the clothes that were not bought were no where to be found. I should also note I have ALWAYS marked "No, I will take back my items" when asked on the store iPad whether I'd like to donate whatever items did not sell. It has never been in my customer profile to donate items.
So, when I kindly inquired about where my other items may be, the associate attempted to find them in the back, which I did appreciate. However when she returned after looking for the last time, she was short and said "Yeah, I guess they were donated, sorry" and just walked away swiftly. That was the end of the conversation. I was taken aback by the shortness and seemingly, lack of sympathy she had for my clothes missing. As if, "oh well, anyways...."
I stood there for a moment and then simply left. I knew I needed a moment to process how I felt about the experience and whether or not to go back and try to discuss finding a resolution, further.
After a few hours, I called the store back and kindly asked if I could express my desire to find some kind of resolution besides what I was left with as my last experience in the store. I explained how much I've enjoyed shopping there, and I even shared that I've worked in retail and I totally get that things happen and mistakes are made. We're only human, after all. I stressed that I didn't want to be rude or get any associate in trouble, but it seemed like perhaps a review on policy and what is and is not acceptable to tell customers would be beneficial for their employees. Anyways, It actually was a lovely conversation and I appreciated their willingness to speak with me.
At the end of the conversation it was agreed upon that the owner of the store would call me back THAT evening to find if there was some way to express their sympathy for the situation, or if there was anything more that could be done to make up for the experience. Perhaps a coupon or gift card, something like that. I ended the call quite happy and hopeful that we could turn this experience around.
But unfortunately, this is why I am writing this review. It has been a week now and no call. And I am dissapointed. I'm not sure now how comfortable I am with selling or purchasing from this store now, as I feel like I've been led up and down as I've taken the initiative to resolve this, when I have been the one inconvenienced.
TLDR: Be aware that when you drop off your clothes on a Sunday you WILL be expected to come back the day they complete the buy, or else your clothes may be lost/donated, EVEN IF you mark that you do not wish to donate them.
EDIT: Four months later, still no contact or phone call, and I've noticed management has commented on other's reviews, including those posted around the same time or after mine. I find it hard to believe they just so happened to miss mine? It's just really, really disheartening to have this experience after enjoying shopping here for years. I've been a loyal customer and LOVED this UC...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor the most part, this store has great selections from designer and other good-quality brands in bags, shoes, clothing, and accessories (examples listed toward the end). The workers I have encountered have almost always been very pleasant! I have been in the store numerous times to buy and sell, historically having good luck in both endeavors.
However the last time I was in to sell clothes, such as barely-used Steve Madden sandals, heels, American Eagle, Leviās, a PacSun x Playboy skirt (never worn) and jeans, etc., they took NOTHING, because they are being āsuper selectiveā.
They should not have to deny buying good-quality clothes because they stocked up on brands like SHEIN and other items that look and feel poorly made. I think their biggest downfall was buying cheap, poor-quality items because now theyāre trying to sell them for equal to or more than what they were originally sold for.
I donāt know how they are planning to get rid of those items without risking too much profit. I will have to visit other locations to see if they have managed to keep their racks clear of these items.
This is not to say the whole store is like this because there are some REALLY GOOD finds. They have designer bags and accessories like sunglasses, including Louis Vuitton and Prada for a great price! They have Leviās, 7 for all Mankind, Patagonia, American Eagle, LuLuLemon, Anthropology, and even a little section dedicated to Free People clothing for the low. I have seen (and purchased) several pairs of high-quality footwear like Nike, Nine West stiletto boots, Ariat western boots and Sam Edelman heels. There have also been items from brands I didnāt recognize that were vintage and made from good materials that maybe came from a boutique.
THESE ^ are the things they should focus on purchasing and reselling because these are things that grab customersā attention.
I would hate to see this location go out of business due to poor purchasing decisions. I truly wish this place the best of luck filtering out poor-quality items and restoring...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experiences with this store have always been "off and on" I don't go to consignment stores to find brands that are sold at Target, Walmart and Old Navy, and recently, I was prompted for my feedback on my experience. I told the business owner, after I was solicited by text to write a review, about my honest opinions shopping at her store. I gave several positive and negative perspectives, such as the selection, the quality of the items, the staff and how they ignore customers and are not attentive and helpful. Most of it was an long time customer's honest opinions about how the store has taken a dip in many of these aspects. I included a specific employee who was rude and even gave the detailed scenario. I even pointed out that I DIDN'T want to comment this on a review site and it was more just for her information. As a business owner who is never in my store, I would rely on this type of information to be my eyes and ears. I described him as the "guy wearing a full face of makeup, more than I have ever worn" and went on to detail my experience. I also gave her feedback on how the Scottsdale store seems to have better service and selection. I have never seen a more immature, childish and defensive retort from an adult, let alone a "in the public" small business owner. It stoops to a level of petty. And in spite of all the valuable feedback I gave, she took none of it in and isolated only the wording I used to describe the male employee. Read the conversation in my photos below. What a disappointing encounter with a local small business owner whose customers are going out of their way to support...
