Chantilly Regional Library — Attraction in Chantilly

My children and I have used Chantilly Library for 8 years. This was our first time back since COVID. Customer service has been fine until today. The librarian at check out was so rude about fees we owed from 2019. They were way too much. When I said I couldn't afford it, I expected she would work with me on payment. Instead she was so unkind and made remarks about not being able to keep them forever and not pay. Most were only 12 days overdue. I just can't fathom expecting a Mom with young kids, during a pandemic to pay these fees. But more importantly not show kindness and empathy given the circumstances. The toddlers and twos program instructor was unduly rude and out of line in both interactions I've had with her. She alluded that my child and I hadn't registered and have yet joined in the program (which wasn't the case) and made a suggestive comment about the race I belong to.

The Chantilly Library has been a lifesaver for our family during Covid. We love putting books on hold through online reservations, and then easily picking them up through curbside service. My children are always delighted by the librarian's selections for them when we do a "Grab Bag" option. We've enjoyed a few online programs as well, and have also loved the option of picking up a craft bag when we pick up books.
