Came to Popeyes at 11:25pm on 11/20/24. Ordered a Large 4pc Signature Chicken Combo with a large sprite, red beans and rice, and mashed potatoes. The bill total was $17.48 and I paid with a $20 bill. At the window the register lady gave me back $2.50 in quarters (not a problem) but no receipt. Just handed back the coins. After receiving the order I pulled out and checked the order to see I had received a 3 piece combo with just a coleslaw. Circled back around not even 2 mins later back to the window and asked them to check the bag they had given me because it was the wrong order. They asked for a receipt but I could not give them one because they had never given me one. I asked them to pull out their order history and just check it there to see what I had ordered since I had been there no longer than 2 mins ago. They refused to take the bag and check the order and kept asking for the receipt. Eventually they pulled up the order history and repeated back the order that I had ordered, but refused to take the bag that they had given me to check if it was correct. The woman eventually gives me my red beans and rice side and one piece of chicken but the entire time (assuming because of the language barrier could not completely understand what was happening) I worked at this same popeyes when I was in highschool and frequent this popeyes A LOT. This woman literally just wanted to save her own ass and made things difficult for no reason. Saying something about that it’s gunna cost her money to correct the problem or something. They could've checked the cameras if they wanted to but didn’t. At the end she just stood there and said “Really?” as if I was in the wrong. Then a man comes and starts waving me off saying something in spanish. I understand that English was not her first language but the manager who speaks english stood in the back and just let it all happen. Having worked in the food industry for 10 years now it blew my mind how difficult they made things. All they had to do was take the bag, open it and see that it was the wrong order, and just take out the coleslaw and put in the 2 correct sides and add a piece of chicken. I completely understand that most times you need a receipt, but the fact that they never gave a receipt and could’ve checked the camera and see that she had never given it. Absolutely crazy experience. Also wouldve never wrote this review had the woman not acted like I was the one in the wrong which blew my mind. Check the cameras and make sure your employees are giving the customer the receipts everytime. Proof that she wasn’t giving the receipt too when I pulled up the second time there was a receipt crumbled up sitting at the window, asked her if that was mine but she just said no crumbled it up again and threw it out. Read moreI ordered a four-piece combo which included leg Breast thigh and wing. But the menu did not say what came with the combo. I asked for 2 legs and two breasts and was charged $1.89 extra. Thought that was a little excessive but ohh well. Came with one side, so I got mac and cheese. Got charged .50 extra for that. Now I'm not happy because they upcharged for a side that everyone likes, their most popular item. Why? Makes no sense and I never saw any other place do that. So now my 12 99 meal just went up 2.40. REALLLY. WHY CALL THIS A COMBO. I asked for a medium drink, yelp, .50 more. Then the meal tax, yes I know it's not their fault, but .95 is 1/15 of the cost 🤔.
As for customer service, what's a little disappointed with that as well. When I saw how much the meal was. And how much the upcharges were. I asked the c s r on what was included. Oh she did was good confused because she didn't understand english well. So I asked for manager and she explained it all to me. You should not put a person who doesn't understand basic English and a position where they're gonna talk to. People speak Multiple languages.
Overall I enjoy the food at Popeye's but these upcharges and Not having this on the menu some where really sucks. And I need to get rid of the fifty-cent surcharge on macaroni and cheese, It's their number one side item that's just stupid. I bought my food with a smile. Read moreI ordered from them through Doordash, and unfortunately the options are limited when ordering from that platform. No special instructions allowed, and no way to order any sauces individually. Also, the app displays wicked shrimp combos available but then won't let you put the order in, turns out the wicked shrimp is gone and they have spicy cajun shrimp or something now.
So why is this review five stars? Here's why. I really wanted hot sauce and blackened ranch with my chicken, so I called the restaurant and asked them to add some to my order. The guy on the phone (sorry mate, forgot your name otherwise you'd be getting major credit here) asked if that was all, and while I was at it I decided to ask if they were out of wicked shrimp since I couldn't order it from the app, where he then informed me of the name change. I didn't ask for them to add shrimp as I didn't want to trouble them by trying to edit the order, I told them I just wanted the sauces.
He was very courteous on the phone and agreed to get me the sauces I requested. I asked for three each of hot sauce and blackened ranch.
