H&R Block — Local services in Chantilly

I scheduled a follow up appointment at this location after the individual I initially met with did not schedule a follow up appointment nor communicate a possible timeline to complete my taxes. I called on 3 separate occasions on 03/15/2020 and explained the situation to 3 different people. Each of which told me the office manager would call me, they never did. On the 3rd call, I was told the gentleman I met with would be in at 4:00pm 03/16/2020, to which I explained I would prefer to meet with a different professional earlier in the day if possible. I was scheduled to meet with Margaret at 12:00pm on the 16th. I arrived roughly 10min early, she greeted me but that was the extent of her maintaining her professionalism. I explained the situation and that I was told my documents would be available to her since I had left them with her colleague , I also explained my reasoning for meeting with her. I simply wanted to complete the process and I had not heard from the other tax professional. At this point she flipped out stating he had been off the entire weekend and that he did not need to communicate with me, she further stated she would have done the same. She began rifling through my documents and complaining that she had no clue what was what and she would need to start over. At this point I grew frustrated because there was no reason for her poor attitude or rudeness. I told her thank you but no thank you I would take my business elsewhere.

I have used this company for years without a problem. I have never experienced such lack of professionalism or communication. I did however thank Margaret for helping me decide wether to continue my utilization of H&R Block. This will be my final year using this company. Received an audit for taxes done in 2016 we have always paid for H&R blocks audit protection. The 1800 number set us up with an appointment here with Margaret. We arrived at the appointment and she basically turned us away and said that an examination is not an audit. Which if you go to the IRS website it very clearly explains that it is. Corporate has since made this right but still how rudely Margaret treated us and how little compassion she showed was just down right ridiculous. Thank God we did not listen to her and go to the IRS without representation, would have cost more than I want to post online. Corporate informed me they will be requiring completion of reeducation for parties involved. Thank you to the regional manager who got involved and was floored at what happened. Thank you to the two other H&R offices that went above and beyond.

Just sickens me to think someone could treat people this way. I'm sure the owner is aware of this but something this terrible warranted a review. Here's the case number if you need 1659030...

Ling Nero has been doing our taxes at HRB for over a decade and she provides exemplary service each and every time. I told her last year we loved her work but it seemed each year, it cost more and more to do the same taxes. I told her that even though we liked coming to her, we may have to start doing our own taxes because HRB simply was charging so much that it would soon become cost prohibitive. Fast forward to this year, HRB changed the fees and our same taxes that cost $450 last year cost less than $300 this year...a wonderful surprise!
