I drove to this location on a Sunday evening to get a quick service takeaway meal of create-your-own versions of an entree salad and an 11 inch pizza along with a drink and their small cake dessert. Portion sizes are easily controlled here as are the prices. I placed my order rather easily online and requested a pickup time about 25 minutes after placing my order. I am glad I went early, as my food was sitting ready with 10 minutes to spare. The staff provided rather straightforward, no-frills service when I collected my order which was filled accurately.
The ingredients in both the salad and pizza felt and tasted fresh. I appreciate the ability to customize both salads and pizzas without concern for additional charges based on the ingredients selected. The dressing size proved just the right amount to dress the salad without waste or excess remaining in the bowl. The pizza had a firm crust on the bottom that prevented sogginess. The amounts of sauce and cheese were about right for this kind of pizza. I would appreciate the pizza being warmer on collection, as by the time I got home in under 15 minutes the pizza was room temperature or a little cooler. The cake for its part of my meal had good chocolate flavor and was relatively moist even if I might have liked a little more cream filling inside. The calorie load for this food was not as much as similar orders at other places (the thin crust plus the small sized dessert help), so I felt less guilty for eating all that I ordered.
The total bill came to just under $30 excluding tax and tip, leaving me feeling a good sense of value for my purchase especially given the quickness of fulfilling my order and the fresh tasting salad and pizza toppings. I could return in the future if I wanted a quick meal while watching a movie or a...
Read moreSorry to give a bad review but.. So this may have started out with a creepy patron ahead of me who was with two young girls who happened to be adult twins and the guy was rude to the employee.
But moving on.. I ordered the Tristan pizza and it was terrible. It might have been the asiago cheese? Maybe it had gone bad? My son did like his pepperoni pizza. We got Cheesy breaksticks and they were dry and not nearly enough cheese with way too much garlic. They were terrible.
The staff seemed overwhelmed and it wasn't even that busy. Maybe it was because of online orders? The employer making the pizza was super busy and didn't seem to know how to make the various pizzas. Why isn't there a list of recipes back there for the employees?
After we ordered, we stood there for another 10 min. waiting to pay. There was only one person ahead of us. The young lady who helped us seemed somewhat lost. She seemed to have several different jobs. The employees need someone to go over with them the protocol and their system. The girl who put the sauce on my pizza before boxing it, just slopped it on very quickly. It was very messy. That's sort of the last thing you want to see.
The music was loud but I get that's just the way a lot of restaurants do it. But the soda machine not far from us was ridiculously loud. Fortunately, it stopped making the noise, eventually.
The tables in Mod are always very sticky. I think it might have to do with the varnish beaking down when they wipe down the tables. (?)
45 bucks for 2 people and it was a lousy experience. Sorry, won't be going back to...
Read moreTASTE (4/10): I had such high hopes as a pizza lover searching for the perfect pizza across state lines. The “Mega Thick Crust” turned out to mean “regular size, but puffed up” The crust was literally raw in places, you can see on photos, I had to perform surgery and remove the inedible edges. Beef and chicken were flavorless and borderline unpleasant. I came for a celebration of carbs, but got an unpleasant taste.
PRICE (8/10): Fair enough, especially considering the customizable toppings. That part is great, and why can’t everyone let us build our own pizzas like this? Except the drink prices, those were nearly $4 for a modest glass of open soda. That’s not a drink, that’s a punchline.
SERVICE (9/10): The young staff were friendly and easygoing, the kind of folks that make you wish the food matched their attitude.
ATTITUDE (9/10): Super welcoming. If charm alone could cook a pizza, this would’ve been five-star dining.
PLACE (8/10): Cozy and nice inside. The vibe sets you up for something good, which makes the fall even harder when the pizza hits the table.
CLEANLINESS (9/10): Clean and tidy, no complaints.
ADDITIONAL FEES/HIDDEN COSTS (10/10): Nothing sneaky on the receipt.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: A place where everything but the actual pizza is great. You don’t expect to walk into a pizzeria and walk out wishing it were a soda bar with a killer build-your-own-toppings model. Pizza dreams,...
