For a couple years, I have made an effort to come in to this store to purchase my fly fishing and camping gear, rather than shopping online. However, that time has come to an end. The quality of customer service has dropped significantly since I first started shopping here, and has become quite terrible as of late. I walked in today with my mind set on buying a new pair of wading boots, but after ten minutes of standing in front of the boot wall, watching the staff talk amongst themselves at the front counter, I put the boot I had been holding back on the shelf and walked out seemingly unnoticed. My experiences there lately have all been pretty similar to this one. Since the store staff clearly doesn't not want to spend their time assisting customers, I will save their time and mine by taking my money somewhere else, which probably means spending it online or at REI. If you are looking for outdoor gear expertise and great customer service, you unfortunately will not...
Read moreThis is a great store with friendly staff and a wide selection of clothes.
It would be really awesome if they increased their size selection to include clothes for wider range of bodies. At least for women they only seem have up to XL. I was there shopping with my spouse for quite a while recently and almost certainly would have bought something if there was literally anything I could try on in the store (other than men’s clothes). Again, totally appreciate this store, but do think making it more inclusive to folks in bigger bodies (who also like to go outside!) would be a really awesome...
Read moreI came in a few days ago looking for some knowledge about hiking boots and options to actually try on. It's been over a decade since I bought new boots, and I knew tech had changed, so was really hoping for some expert guidance. My experience at a certain big box outdoor store a few days prior had been - less than ideal - but a gift card had swayed me to try there first. Well, I should have just gone to GOPC in the first place, gift card be darned. Chad was EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable, and it was fun to geek out over my upcoming trip. This is how it should be people! He carefully measured each foot, reminded me of various ways to tie my laces for a perfect fit, and gave me the background on several different boots' tech. GOPC will be my first stop...
