First visit ever: I ordered my food, the lady taking my very simple order seemed very confused and I had to repeatedly tell her what I wanted. She have her a number to display on my table and said they'd bring it out to me
Many people came in behind me. I watched them all get fed before me, until half an hour had gone by. I went to the counter to ask about my food and the same lady got real aggressive with me, saying she had called my number and even had walked around the dining room with my food calling out for me. I cannot explained that I'd been paying attention for my food while listening to earbuds quietly. They said they'd bring my food to my table number, which was clearly on display. And this woman can't have forgotten what I look like in the few minutes between when I ordered and it was ready (I'm fairly distinct looking). She clearly paid no attention to the numbers on the tables not looked at who was sitting there (you know, to notice I was scrolling videos on my phone and might miss her.
She scolded and argued with me that I should have been listening for my number, desire my repeatedly telling her she had said they'll bring it to my table and gave me a number, so that's what I expected would happen. She kept trying to make it my fault.
Eventually, she asked if I still wanted my food, and OF COURSE I did, I was very hungry at this point. She looked at the melting shake and said she supposed she could ask them to remake it. While we're was doing that, I touched my burger and fries to find them cold. So I asked for those to be remade too, and she argued with me before, of course, agreeing to make it right.
The food I got was terrible, I'm not even sure they reheated my food much less made me fresh food. It was room temp and very sad with once melted cheese now congealed.
I left in a bad mood, and now, a week or so later, I'm still ticked off. That was a $25 meal for a simple cheeseburger, fries, and milkshake, and it all sucked. Not so sure I'll...
Read moreI don't normally write reviews but this was by far the most disappointing meal I've had from any establishment so decided to leave a review to warn others. I would like to say I was really excited to have a Shake Shack in Chapel Hill because I hadn't had any in years and when I got there the place was clean, ordering was easy so my experience started off great. However, once I received my food it all went downhill. I ordered a burger, fries, milkshake, chicken and a hotdog(which I did not receive even though when I was handed my bag I asked if everything was in there and was assured everything was). Had a missing hotdog been the only issue then I would not be leaving a review since mistakes happen but unfortunately it was not. The fries were cold, not crispy and had no real taste to them, really bland even with the bacon and cheese. The burger was alright, wasn't terrible but for the price, I was expecting more. You could definitely get a better tasting burger for cheaper at any other fast food place. The chicken was a mess, it was super overly seasoned and the breading was falling off, went into the trash. Can't review the hotdog because once again, I did not receive it. Lastly, I will say that although I enjoyed the milkshake itself, I was once again disappointed because the cup I received it in was only filled 2/3 of the way. Maybe that's the way they come, or it was put in a bigger cup than it was supposed to be by mistake, or some was spilled on accident...I'm not certain but along with everything else that went wrong it just did not help that I couldn't even get my money's worth on the milkshake. I hope they hire someone to do some quality control and check orders before sending them out because this was not right. I do not recommend anyone waste...
Read moreVery nice cashier, and I appreciate places that bring your food to you. Food is expensive, but it is Chapel Hill, and prices are comparable with Al's Burger Shack.
I got a Shackburger (basically a cheeseburger with a mayo-based sauce) and a chocolate shake. I'll give some advice to the management:
The bun is excellent. The meat is a good quality. I recommend reducing the % of the Shack sauce that is mayo. I understand the intention of using mainly mayo is that it will have a thick consistency, but flavor is most important. There are better ingredients that can give either a tangy or a sweet flavor, whichever you're going for. If the flavor improves, I don't think your customers will mind if the consistency is a little runny.
Additionally, the burger is vastly too salty. I like a salty burger, but reducing the salt by at least 20% would be wise. It wouldn't be so overpowering, and it would be better for your customers' health.
I'd also remove the option to tip on the credit card reader. Tip jars are fine, but it is always awkward to be asked for a tip at a fast food place, especially when it's unavoidable. Be realistic. It's not a full-service restaurant, it is nonsense to ask for a tip. I've been in sales, so I understand the "there's nothing wrong with asking" attitude. This attitude is false. It is annoying to be confronted with unexpected charges or solicitation, which is why people have "No Solicitors" signs on their homes. This is already very expensive for fast food, you should have more respect for...
