I've visited JewelRecycle maybe half a dozen times in recent years & am usually happy with the service & am often surprised with the cash I leave with; heaving a big sigh of relief to be able to pay some bills. Patricia "served" me on my last visit a few weeks ago. I've worked in the service industry for over 40 years. It's not always easy to serve the public with grace & patience. Patricia is one of the most gracious, patient, kind, knowledgable, sincere, people I've ever encountered. Even when faced with what I call a "traffic jam" in the "office", she showed respect to the couple that she was serving before me - never rushing through the process & showing me the same courtesy & I'll bet the person after me got the same. (and, of course, she acknowledged our presence) One never knows what someone is going through that would drive them to go to such a business & sell items of varying degrees of value. My reason was an upcoming bill. When I told this to Patricia she wished for me that it was for a vacation, which I wished, as well, but as corny as it may sound, it was a vacation from worry & such a stress-free visit, thanks to her. I feel like even if she gave me "bad news" about my items (she didn't - I was happily surprised), I would come away more knowledgeable & feel like someone cared & tried to help. I did come away with inspiration to follow her lead when "dealing with people" in my day job & everyday life. Thanks, Patricia, I needed a reminder, but you wear the crown. I don't think I could live up to your service....
Read moreTheir many favorable online reviews is my main reason for consulting JewelRecycle in Chapel Hill. Last week I popped in for the first time, to obtain general valuations on a few items which I wasn't quite ready to part with, yet which I still wish to sell in the foreseeable future. I.e., I went there seeking a basic education for near-term planning, rather than an on-the-spot transaction.
Even with that up-front disclosure, Cheryl, Gusuma and Kaitlyn extended courteous treatment and a generous amount of their time, attention and info — at no cost to me. They examined and priced each of my jewelry pieces and readily answered all of my questions (technical, procedural and industry-/market-related). This gave me good general perspective, with likely specific outcomes for selling my various items at some point down the road.
I left the store equipped with exactly the intel I had sought, obtained through a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Thank you, ladies! I look forward to my return. And although we haven't yet conducted any monetary business together, I heartily recommend other customers see you — at least for your helpful in-store...
Read moreThis is the last of 5 places I stopped by this week to see what I could get for an old high school senior ring (10K gold). They were within $5 of the highest place I had come across and they had great reviews, so I gave them my business. They offered to pay with cash or check, so I took the cash.
One thing I wasn't expecting (but probably should have) was they take your drivers license info down. I guess this is to help deter someone from selling stolen goods.
The woman I worked with was very nice and explained what the "bar code reader on steroids" gun was used for (to detect the type of metal). All in all a very good experience. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I had anything else to sell. I recommend without hesitation.
As an FYI, it does pay to shop around. Here are the prices I was offered:
Atelier N - $162 William Travis Jewelers - $170 JewelRecycle - $238 Olmaz Jewelers - $240 John David...
