miserable service the only person who was not rude or felt like they were too busy or was being bothered by my asking for help and actually asking to be properly checked out was the lady who controls the garage parking tickets.when trying to check out books I was instead pointed in the direction of the self-service kiosk while the woman at the computer continue to read her computer and the book sitting next to it. it was more than 30 minutes before closing time and instead of providing the customer service that I assume these people are being paid to do as well as cataloging books and such the two women at the desk completely ignored myself my friend and directed us to use the self-service counter instead. it is no wonder that libraries are failing all over the country if this is the kind of attitude that the staff decides to keep. Charleston County Library: No Reading Challenge for the children to read during Christmas break 2024 this year. Why not? I called the main library and was told that the library was taking a two week break from programs this Christmas. This is your job. You get the holidays off completely without going in to work. When you do not get a government holiday and are supposed to be working, then work 100 percent. What about the children? Our tax money pays for the county library. The Christmas break Reading Challenge was one that the children simply logged the books they read each day online and received prizes for reading. You couldn't handle that!? I usually would never give one starts but the experience I had felt like I needed to. I had a very eventful day and the library was my last stop. I arrived at 6:50 ten minutes before they close, bride I came I looked to see if they have what I need and they did, so I was going in to grab and go essentially. However I arrived to doors being locked and told I was not allowed to enter. The security guard would barley listen to me. I am very upset because I have no other day to get what I need so I now have to spend my own money for something that I could have easily borrowed.
