One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Charleston! I usually sit at the bar, and always have an amazing experience. My boyfriend and I have sat with Jack and Eric a few times, and we love every minute of our time there.
I love the details and style of the atmosphere, but the service first and the food next, steal the show. The bartenders are so kind and gracious. I haven’t had a better steak anywhere in Charleston, not even close. We usually get the ribeye, the Au gratin potatoes, and a salad.
Marbled and Fin is on the tier of fine steakhouses you would find in much larger cities, but here it is in our small foodie town. Even if placed in a huge steakhouse-heavy metro like Dallas, it would hold its own with no issue. It would fit right in, and still be a high ranking experience in a very large city.
Yes, it might not be in the most walkable location (for now) but it is very worth the short Uber trip to visit.
I’ve only been during off-peak hours/days, like Monday-Wednesday so I’d imagine reservations are recommended for busy nights, but if you can get in at the bar to see Jack, I know you will be treated well. Last time I visited, it appears Eric has been promoted to a different position, congrats! But when we first met him, he was behind the bar.
Eric still remembered us with a gracious hello, which was very kind because we showed up rather late in the night recently. We had met with some friends who visit town often and had never tried Marbled and Fin. Schedules of our day’s activities had us strolling in the door last minute. I would not recommend doing that, please don’t, although Jack and Eric, the host stand, and the other bar team were very kind and made sure we still felt very welcome. If you do, PLEASE be generous in tips to your servers / bartenders! They want to go home just like everyone else… And we were treated so graciously.
I was thrilled to introduce our friends to Marbled and Fin on their last night in Charleston, as I know when they come to town they love to wine and dine.
My boyfriend has some unfortunate dietary restrictions and allergies, and we can always trust Marbled and Fin to be very careful and understanding about keeping cross-contamination away. I recall one visit where we had been bar and appetizers hopping around town and he started feeling unwell (before we ate anything at Marbled and Fin) and Jack and Eric kindly gave him club soda and offered to box our dinner order up to-go so we could get home. They were very concerned, although it was nothing to do with them or their restaurant. I will remember that level of care forever.
Marbled and Fin is a beautiful, romantic, modern location—perfect for a date night, business dinner, or for friends who want to try something new.
I am constantly recommending Marbled and Fin to anyone I meet who is asking for restaurant recommendations in Charleston. Please pay...
Read moreNestled in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina, Marbled & Fin beckons diners with its blend of eclectic charm and culinary finesse. Stepping inside, I was immediately captivated by the ambiance—the air buzzed with the nostalgic charm, reminiscent of a 1960s social club, yet seamlessly blended with a refined contemporary sophistication. The decor, an eclectic fusion of bold colors and retro accents, immediately transported me to a bygone era of glamour and sophistication and set the stage for an evening of culinary exploration.
The menu, a testament to culinary innovation, tantalized my senses with its daring combinations and unexpected pairings. Each bite was a revelation—a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate, leaving me craving more. From the first appetizer to the final dessert, every dish was a journey in itself, meticulously crafted to perfection. The Hamachi Crudo, Amberjack amidst a sea of Watermelon juice, Chili, & Cilantro Oil and by far one of the most exciting and refreshing morsels to tantalize my taste buds, to date.
The cocktail selection was a revelation of its own, offerings were crafted with precision and flair. The first sip of my "ReCola Cooler" was like a burst of sunshine on a summer day, instantly transporting me to days filled with running through sprinklers, recreating the youthful feeling of innocent excitement and wonderment—smooth, sweet, and refreshingly tart, imbued with its own unique personality and charm.
But it wasn't just the flavors that captivated me; it was the visual feast that unfolded before my eyes with every course. Each plate was a work of art, a masterpiece where colors collided in harmony and textures played like a symphony. Vibrant raw bar offerings teased with freshness, while main courses dazzled with their elegant presentation and intricate details. The "marbled" selections on the menu rivaled the city's most cherished steakhouses, and the "Entree" selections outdid them. The Ora King Salmon was almost too beautiful to eat, but the creamy Beurre Blanc sauce, crispy salmon skin "rind", and the smokey bursts of flavor from the pop of the smoked roe made it too irresistible not to.
Throughout the evening, the service was impeccable—attentive yet unobtrusive, enhancing the overall dining experience. Our server's passion for food and hospitality shone through, adding a personal touch that made me and my partner feel like cherished guests.
In conclusion, Marbled & Fin is more than just a restaurant; it's an enchanting journey through taste and time. It invites you to savor the past while embracing the present, offering a culinary adventure that lingers long after the last bite. For anyone seeking not just a meal, but an unforgettable experience, Marbled & Finn promises to delight and inspire with its blend of timeless elegance and...
Read moreI honestly had such high hopes for celebrating my fiancé’s birthday here - especially after reading all the great reviews - but unfortunately we left feeling so disappointed and confused about what all the hype is about.
We went on a Monday night and ended up spending close to $600. For that price, I expected a very special and memorable evening… but it was honestly one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Our server barely checked on us and she seemed totally disengaged - like she was annoyed to be there. Little things added up, too. For example, no one asked if we wanted still or sparkling water - they just poured tap. Not a huge deal, but it’s one of those small courtesies you kind of expect at a nice place, especially if you love sparkling like we do. The whole vibe just felt off from the minute we sat down.
We ordered the $150 A5 Wagyu (which was only 5oz), asked for it medium rare, and it came out ice cold.. Sending it back felt uncomfortable, and while they did reheat it and it came back warm, it wasn’t returned until 25 minutes later and there was no comp - nothing. Not even a small gesture after we spent that much on just ONE plate.
I had reached out to the restaurant ahead of time and sent a note hoping they’d make the night special for my fiancé, and we got a totally generic “happy birthday” card that they also handed to the guy who walked in right before us. It felt like zero effort.
To top it off, we were sat at a tiny table pushed up against a wall—my fiancé got to look at the parking lot the whole time, and I couldn’t see anything but him.
To make matters worse - we now both feel super sick. It has just added insult to injury.
We’ve dined at amazing restaurants all over the world, and this just didn’t come close. I’m really sad i picked this place for such a special night. If I can spare someone else from making the same mistake, I will. 0/0 recommend. Please go...
