We booked this tour on an air conditioned bus because we have visited Charleston on numerous occasions during the summer and know how hot it is. We were the first to arrive, about 30 minutes prior to departure and Tyler was sitting on a bench outside the bus to check us in. The bus was not running to cool down for your guests. We were checked in and told we would have to wait outside an additional 20 minutes before we could get on the bus which we thought was odd as all other 11 am tours were loading their passengers with the busses running. So we waited in the heat. All the others that booked arrived and were told to wait as well. We thought that certainly since we arrived first we would be allowed to board first as that was what all other tours were doing, but the last people arrived and they were immediately let on the bus. Then all others crowded the bus and we ended up being the LAST to board. The only seats left for me and my husband was in the back of the bus and was broken (bent in a reclining position) and EXTREMELY uncomfortable to sit in as it provided no support for your back. Tyler joked as the tour got underway that he was going to crank up the heat so we could get a taste of a true Charleston summer, which was funny if it was a joke, but unfortunately the AC on the bus was also broken as it was set on 67, but never dropped below 82 the entire tour. I find it hard to believe that your tour company didn’t know in advance that the AC wasn’t working properly or that the seat was broken. For those reasons AND not loading in the order guests arrived, I have given your tour company 1 star. You need to do better. Would not...
Read moreThe Magnolia Plantation tour is a challenge to review as it consisted of a collection of components by various providers, of which Adventure Sightseeing only provided the round-trip ground transportation and a modicum of coordination once inside the Plantation grounds. For their part, Adventure Sightseeing delivered on what was promised, was on-time, and their driver was courteous and provided decent narration and instructions during the drive to the Plantation. Once inside the Plantation Grounds, the staff from Magnolia Plantation largely did the rest. Since we were visiting Charleston as a one-day port of call, this tour seemed to provide an easy way for our group of eight to visit a plantation at slightly less cost than a ship-sponsored shore excursion. Had we had more time and a smaller size group, we would have taken a more DIY approach to organizing this tour. I’m unsure if the cost would’ve been any different, but it would’ve made for a more personalized experience. As it were, we had 18 on our minibus (our group of 8 + 10 more), this at $96.30 per person. This along with the cost of round-trip ride shares from the port to the meeting point, as well as tips for the driver and various staff at the Plantation, put the cost of this large group tour up there. Unlike other providers who only require a deposit at the time of booking, Adventure Sightseeing required full payment up front. As it were, we made the best of our tour, but I recommend exploring all of the options prior to making...
Read moreAnderson was a great tour guide and navigated the flooded streets like a pro. He was very informative and we seen lots of landmarks and heard great stories about beautiful historical Charleston. We purchased the combo bus tour and museum or mansion tour. We asked Anderson which of the additional tours we had purchased that he would recommended and he stated since it was raining the museum. We informed him that we were not interested in the museum but the mansions tour portion of our purchase. Anderson stated the Aiken-Rhett house was the absolute best because it has never been restored and is a true reflection of a mansion and life in the 1800’s. We chose to tour this mansion based on his referral. When we arrived our purchased tickets were refused and we were informed that the Aiken-Rhett Mansion was not part of the additional tour we purchased. The additional tours purchased included a choice of the Joseph Manigault House, Nathaniel Russel House, or the Charleston Museum. We were highly disappointed that Anderson recommended a house that was not part of our additional purchase. We did choose to purchase the tour of the Aiken-Rhett Mansion and definitely not disappointed. Definitely a must see in Charleston. Due to time constraints we were unable to tour either of the homes or museum that we purchased in addition to bus tour so we lost $36 for the four of us. Overall an amazing experience but beware of the add on’s and what...
