Nestled in the charming streets of Charleston, South Carolina, Saffron Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience that truly stands out in the vibrant food scene of the city. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting ambiance welcomes you, setting the stage for a memorable meal.
Our server, Adrianne, exemplified what great service should be. Her pleasant demeanor and genuine kindness made us feel right at home. She was attentive without being intrusive, expertly guiding us through the menu and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our visit.
Now, let’s talk about the food—an absolute highlight of the evening. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was nothing short of immaculate. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful, nestled between freshly baked bread that had just the right amount of crunch. Accompanying it was a side salad that was surprisingly generous, making it feel like I had two meals in one. Each bite was a delightful blend of freshness and flavor, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.
Stephen opted for the turkey club with fries, and he was equally impressed. The turkey was thickly sliced and accompanied by crisp bacon and fresh toppings, all piled high in a way that made each bite a delicious challenge. The fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned, providing the ideal complement to his sandwich.
The ambiance of Saffron adds an extra layer to the dining experience. The decor strikes a balance between cozy and chic, with warm lighting and tasteful decor that fosters a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours enjoying good food and conversation.
Lastly, we couldn’t resist taking a look at the pastry selection, which was nothing short of incredible. The display was enticing, featuring an array of decadent treats that tempted us to save room for dessert. Although we were too full to indulge that evening, it’s clear that the pastry offerings are a must-try for future visits.
Overall, Saffron Restaurant exceeded our expectations in every aspect. From the delightful service provided by Adrianne to the impeccable food and charming ambiance, it’s a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Charleston. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or a special occasion, Saffron is sure to impress. We can't wait to return and explore more of their menu—especially those...
Read moreWe visit the area often, and for years we'd hit Saffron's a couple of times during our visits. Their She-crab soup and bread baskets we're always a favorite. They have lots of easily accessible parking and a nice back patio. However, during my last few visits it's been so disappointing. I'm pretty certain, the rude older gentleman who is there, is the owner. I've noticed some days he seems to be friendly and accommodating to his guests, others he makes you feel as though he's angry you're there. Our last visit was awful! We sat as a group of 5 adults and one child who has their own food. We waiting about 15 - 20 min on a very slow day for our order to be taken. One of our party realized they couldn't wait and still make an appointment, so they left before ordering. Our food took nearly an hour to get and when it came one dish, a chicken sandwich was burned. It was sent back, and we though was being replaced, 30 min later still no sandwich...so we went to pay and leave. We felt badly for our server as it was obvious the owner was giving him friction about our table and our complaints, so we tipped him very well. Only to get to the register and discover a 20% gratuity had been added on to our group. At this point we had been at the restaurant for nearly two hours and one of our party had still never eaten we argued the charges for only a few minutes, we were able to convince them that we were not paying for the sandwich that was sent back that was an inedible. Their desserts are the best thing they have, and they don't even make them. It's an off site bakery. The she crab soup was very disappointing as were all of our meals. I've been known to reroute our trips home from Myrtle Beach or Florida to include a lunch at Saffron's... Never again I have spent my last dollar there. And for some place I really loved, I'd excuse a few bad experiences, and already have. This was the last bad experience I was willing to have here. The owner needs to get his act together and recognize satisfied customers are what keep you...
Read moreSaffrons bakery and dining is truly delicious! You walk in and immediately are greeted with delicious cakes and pastries. If you choose to take a table, their food is fresh and delicious!! I’ve only been a handful of times and while service is usually standard we had a negative experience I wasn’t able to share with a manager bc staff was hiding around. We came in as a party of two to share a couple appetizers before my son got out of school. Our server Brandon, was aloof and loudly complaining to his coworker about only being seated small tables and he was sure he wasn’t going to make any money off of us. He only came around to take our order and drop it off. We ordered the falafel appetizer and the trio salad plate. The falafel was some of the best over ever had. The trio salad plate was fresh and soooo good. I usually don’t like eggplant but this was another level of eggplant. We never got refills or checked on after our food was dropped off. The rest of the time our server spent behind the pastry bar. I had to get up and ask for to go boxes and two espressos from the counter from another woman working as we waited for 10 minutes without seeing him. When we were brought the espresso about another 10 minutes later…it was coffee…poured into espresso cups. Or at best, they had allowed the shots to expire and were sitting there for quite some time before being brought over. And that’s being lenient. I’m not stupid. I know the difference. I tried to ask what roast of beans they use to try and passively being up being slighted as such, and I was told “I don’t know”. So there’s that. I don’t discount Saffrons off of one bad server. That’s on them, however we won’t be returning for a while for dine in service and absolutely will not be ordering any espresso lol. But please check out their delicious pastries and cakes. You will be overwhelmed in...
