Hazel Parker Playground — Attraction in Charleston

I love this park. It has a small fenced in playground (no pets allowed) with a swing set. There is an area for playing basketball and a baseball diamond. There is a fenced dog run area and a soccer field. But my FAVORITE part are the CLEAN bathrooms!! It is so hard to find free clean bathrooms downtown. It is usually open from 8 am to 8 pm (I think it's 8am to 5 pm in the winter). There are 2 bathrooms, a cold drinking fountain and a security guard there to ward off the riff raff and she is sweet as pie! Last time I was there, she told me there is a toddler play area inside the building with toys and said it was free to use as long as the staff was there. Perfect activity for a rainy day! This is one of the best parks in the lower peninsula of downtown Charleston. The park has a tennis court, small basketball court, a baseball diamond, a clubhouse with several rooms for events like yoga, little kids playground, limited young kids play area, and a popular dog park with an open dog play area and a medium sized fenced-in dog run. Talk about a hidden gem. This was such a nice surprise when we were walking around downtown. We only stopped in because we had to use the restroom. The restroom wasn't nice, but at least it was there. The park was totally hidden, but was big. Two different little playgrounds, a baseball field AND a dog park!!! Seriously...
