We are BG owners but have not visited this location in 6 years. We are traveling with our littles so I made sure I did not reserve a room with the spiral staircase. The staircase was a nightmare last time! There is no gym, pool, nor washing machine and dryer in each unit like other BG properties we have visited. It's walking distance to a lot of restaurants, shopping, and tours. We didn't use our car most of the stay. The valet is $20 a day for owners. It is NOT a kid friendly hotel, so be aware that the nearby eating areas are pricey, or are bars. Our room was on the 3rd floor, so we had to be careful that our children did not get too close to the rails inside the building. They are wide enough that a small child could fall through. The closest fun activity for children, is a park a couple of blocks away. Our room was old and dated, with absolutely no ventilation. There were no ceiling fans for air flow. We couldn't open the windows, they had no screens. Our entire stay, we could smell burnt food in our room from someone cooking. The floors are hardwood and carpet. There was paint splatter on the floors where it appeared someone touched up the baseboards. The floors creaked evey step we took. The furniture was, beds were HARD! The water pressure was very low, and the toliet flushed slowly. The appliances are outdated, and the kitchen counters were stained. The rooms had 24" smart tv's but channel line up was lacking. The remotes didn't match the tv so it was difficult to select a particular channel. Every morning at 6am, were awakened by someone rolling a loud cart outside our windows. In our owner update, they claimed to have been renovating the rooms. BG said the same thing 6 years ago. I can't tell they have done anything at this hotel with the maintenance fees they have collected from us over a 10 year period. We never saw or heard from our concierge Carl. The owner update was supposed to be 60 minutes, but took over 2 hours. We wasted almost 20 minutes waiting for someone to see us when we arrived. The staff are friendly. We only had one bad encounter with a service desk rep. She was rude and snapping at everyone. A couple asked her if a pizza restaurant was across the street. Even though it is visible as soon as you step outside, she snapped, "I don't know anything about a pizza restaurant!" When the couple walked away, WE told them about the place since we had eaten there the night before. Probably won't stay at this hotel again, and definitely won't be doing another owner update...

The worst experience I have ever had. We arrived to the hotel on Wednesday 9/28 and the room was great (loft unit). Thursday I was in a wedding, as I was standing in the wedding the hotel told my boyfriend, who was not attending the wedding, that they were evacuating due to the hurricane threat. So, he packed up all of our luggage on his own, had to pay $600 for one night at another hotel and moved it there by himself. Mind you, we had prepared for the storm by purchasing food and drinks to keep in our room. Friday, the hurricane ended up missing Charleston and moving further north - there was wind (50-70mph) and some rain, but no flooding or power loss. Friday we stayed in an air bnb with a friend as the hotel remained closed. Saturday, after the storm.. and when it returned to sunny and 75 out, the hotel was still closed. Fortunately, we knew the back door was left unlocked at the hotel and went in to see if we could get back into our room to get the food, drinks, and the umbrella that was left. As we walked in, we found that the umbrella was gone, someone (an employee who could gain card access) had come in our room, took all of the alcohol, made our frozen pizza, ate our chicken and other snacks, left numerous dirty dishes all over and even pulled the chair and side table in front of the tv (which had a sprite can and dirty plates sitting on it). A maintenance team was there so I asked to speak to the manager, he acted like he knew nothing even though he made a comment about remembering seeing an umbrella, yet he doesn’t have access to the lost and found… said housekeeping policy is to dump out alcohol that is left, yet there were no empty bottles in our trash cans. And, which I found funny, typical housekeeping comes in and cleans the room, they don’t ransack it, eat the guests food and drink and then leave it a complete mess. They were apparently not reopening until sometime on Sunday.. funny, when guests typically check out, so know one would have known what happened to their rooms unless they went in like we did. Also funny that they evacuated us due to safety, yet someone was clearly safe enough to hangout in our room and do that. Needless to say, I am writing this at 1am on Monday (after flying home on Sunday 10/2) and will be calling corporate as soon as they open tomorrow, as well as the hotel and taking any action needed to be reimbursed for all food, drink, extra hotel...

|||Oh yeah! That's how Elites do it - way to represent!||Attach Photos||Recent Reviews|Ron D.Elite 23|3153|11/4/2023||This shell of the building is quite old. We were told when Bluegreen bought it much of the inside was completely redone.||We actually stayed in the first room, the second floor of the building to the left entering the courtyard.||Be Aware if you are given one of these rooms you will have to go up the stairs as there is no elevator in this building.||The room was small but very nice. There is a microwave and coffee pot provided. A small fridge is beneath the microwave.||When we entered the apartment there was a TV to the left and a small, 2/3 people couch opposite it, with a coffee table in-between them.||There is a short hallway going to the rear of the rooms on the left and the bathroom is halfway to the bedroom.||The bathroom was unique as it had a very old wooden beam just outside the shower. There is NO tub if that is your preference.||The bedroom had a King sized bed.||The bed as all of the ones we have had in a BG location is very comfortable.||There is no restaurant on the property, but there were on both sides of the lodge being immediately next door. Two doors to the right leaving the Lodge is a breakfast place we really enjoyed.||Location is the major selling point. Leaving the Lodge out the front the City Market is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 blocks to the left. It can be seen standing by the street. You will be located almost directly across from the Customs building to help you visualize where you are.||We located the nearest bus pick-up location, this being the Green route is also close, about halfway to the Market.||We discovered if you leave via the back gate at the rear of the Patio you will be about 2 to 2 1/5 blocks from Tommy Condon's Irish bar.||Have written a review of this place also.||We never seemed to enter or leave without at least 1 of the staff greeting us.||We had to store our bags on the day we check-out we asked if they had a location for our bags. They did and helped us store them until time to leave.||Will also say that the concierge at this location was more helpful with information and advice than most, especially at...

Review 2020 5 start at this time Have loved this place for years. Downtown walking distance of many great food places and the straw market. Review Blue Green Properties Lodge Ally Inn Feb 12, 2022 Customer Service Front Desk Now 3 star After buying into Blue Green at Lodge Alley Inn, Charleston SC, I have always been very happy with the purchase. The valet gentleman have been very polite and helpful, as I have enjoyed being greeted by them for many years. At the front desk over the years it has changed, as for today Cythnia was at the front desk (Feb 12, 2022) at was very abrasive. I am a southern girl and always I have a welcome greeting to everyone. A question was raised about the parking policy, and was handled very unprofessional. When I ask the question the day before about parking, I was told that it was $33 per night for owners. If it had been handled different, the $33 would have been no problem, it was the way in which it was handled. We moved our vehicle, because I had family coming in and moved it between our Lodge and their hotel. When I addressed this with her, she abruptly stated well, you did not move it by 10am so you still have to pay for Friday night. Although the truck was moved on Friday at 3pm, we would have gladly moved it by 10am if someone had told us the policy. Still her response was that’s the rules! I have never questioned paying for parking or tipping the so very nice bellman. (Skip keep up the good work) I did call Blue Green and she read the policy, which states $33 per night, and she agreed with my logic. Lodge Alley raise your standards. On a positive note Jody at the desk on check out was very polite, and we had good experience with housekeeping. To be honest with the way things are now being handled I would never have purchased into the time share, and I have been so pleased for several years. Frustrated and Sad,

After reading some of the reviews I was a bit skeptical, but honestly this was such a great hotel in a prime spot for exploring the historic district of Charleston! The bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and we had a beautiful brick walled room with a living room, kitchenette, large bathroom and balcony overlooking the courtyard with a fountain. I am a bit of a germaphobe and worry about bed bugs while traveling and everything, including the mattresses, was super clean. It was close walking distance to everything. The only complaint we had was that the sales people in the main building kept trying to talk to us every time we used the elevator to get us to buy into the room share program, which we were not interested in. We quickly found the stairs to avoid the elevator and problem was solved! Check in ran a little late due to understaffing issues but I think this is happening everywhere right now. The staff made up for it by checking in with us often to let us know that they were on top of it! I appreciate the tip in previous reviews too about the parking. To park on site, they valet and it is a bit pricey at $26 per night. Just down the street was a parking garage for $18 per day so we did that instead. Overall it was an excellent hotel and we will definitely return on our next visit to Charleston!
